Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

2 glaring issues at play with our team, we cant turn dominance into goals/or enough goals, we've left a heap on the table the past 2 games, we also look very vulnerable on transition attacks and should have fallen behind that one time they broke and missed a one on one. We should absolutely smash this team back at lakeside but we cant finish teams off.

All previous results aside Olympic are the next strongest team in this group and next week will be a real test, good news for us is its a match we can afford to lose going by the current standings.

Messourouni getting 25 mins off the bench is an absolute piss take.
 
Not the greatest of performances. Still can’t believe we didn’t put another 3-4 goals past them. They were of the standard of a bottom 3 NPL Vic team or VPL1 team.

Mikkola and Dovison were poor today. Unlucky for Aguek not to convert that shot that hit the crossbar.

I liked the look of Habibi. Held the ball up well and looked good at times. Hopefully with more game time we can see more of him.

Now we are 6 points ahead at the halfway stage of the group phase. Happily take a draw away next week to Olympic.

Good points.

We struggled to deal with turnovers and got caught out on the transition. Against a good team, that will be punished.
 
Max is the only one walking a suspension tightrope. Nobody knowa how long Bonada is out for either.

Yeah strange to see him not get a gig - the press looked nowhere near as effective without the energy of him and Bonada

Thought Uchida was good, Aguek decent, Pope/Leech good off the bench too

This would be the game to rotate and rest a few.. would be happy for Olympic to secure second spot.

Lavale was rested is what i figure also but i agree with what you are saying, leave him on the bench incase the game goes pearshaped. Gave the opportunity for some others to play in rotation.. Aguek was due to start this game on back of performances either way!

Bonada s fire was missing for us to really pin them down.

Uchida is great only issue is he needs a clearer head sometimes to be quicker on the pass. Aguek is our best choice up front and with Bonada he will shine even more.

Pasquali has given us a dimension we have long lacked in midfield imo. He is one of our best on park 3 weeks now and a big reason for the lift in creational play!

Yeah was good at times and average mistakes at others but early days..
Was good seeing Khaddour for the short time we did.. they will both gel and will only get better.

100% break in these players with more game time and help our brethren from north of the border at same time!

Hobart we took about 80+ people mid week this year I reckon this will be 120-150 away fans which is a massive effort. Fans are doing this on their own accord with no bus provided by the club either
