Philippe has bludgeoned the Tas attack a bit in red ball cricket!Reckon Josh Philippe was given an uppercut being dropped. One of our best players of spin in all formats. Carey would be better served playing shield leading into the Ashes.
An under rated cricketer in my book.Philippe has bludgeoned the Tas attack a bit in red ball cricket!

Huge loss for sure. A lot now falls on the other bowlers, especially Starc for me I feel as if he doesn't take many wickets in the first test he could go for plenty and put even further pressure on the rest of them.It is now official, our skipper and best paceman Pat Cummins will miss the First Test in Perth due to the slow recovery of his back injury.
So the Poms plan on unleashing their two quickest bowlers, Archer and Wood against us on a lively Perth pitch and in retaliation have we picked an express paceman, no, as our best express man Lance Morris is also nursing an injury, so Cummins replacement will again be the ever reliable but hardly express pace, Scott Boland.
Enjoy. Hope you are undercover. Last time I saw a Test my brother and I boiled for 7 hrs under the sun as they stuffed up our booking. Never again will I sit anywhere but under a roof to watch a Test.Going to be a HUGE summer! Got tickets to the 2nd test at the Gabba so can't wait!
Mr Inconsistent. Never known a Test bowler to run so hot and cold as Starc. Without Pat he needs to bring us his Dr Jekyll not Mr Hyde persona.Huge loss for sure. A lot now falls on the other bowlers, especially Starc for me I feel as if he doesn't take many wickets in the first test he could go for plenty and put even further pressure on the rest of them.
Shame to hear about the washout.Rain washed out entire first day between Blues and Bulls at the Gabba, while the Warriors rolled the Redbacks cheaply for 215 at the WACA.
Not sure he is quicker than Morris DC, need a speed gun test to determine that tho. For mine Meredith does not seem to be able to maintain peak pace for a long period and can leak runs when he eases. He is also no spring chicken, whereas Morris is mid 20s and is more a selectors choice. You want an express bowler for Aus, Baggers, this guy is the quickest of the lot, but I’m not sure he knows he can sustain it?
Article is behind a pay wall LFC. I have the gist tho. Yes it is time for the next gen of young bowlers to bash down the door to convince selectors that the current big four, or say three at this stage as not including the skipper Pat Cummins, are past their used by date. But I dont see anyone doing that currently in first class cricket. The most promising have either just suffered a long term injury or are recovering from one or they are not ready for Test cricket.Just a matter of interest article I saw now
I know discussion has occurred looking ahead here just thought to throw this in..

The looming crisis Australian cricket can only blame itself for — CODE Sports
However you shape the narrative, this much is clear – it’s time for a young generation of fast bowlers to rise and shine, as Australia’s big four prepare to start leaving the Test arena.apple.news
Also a worrying problem is who will replace our ageing batting great Steve Smith and to a lesser extent Usman Khawaja plus our wicket keeper Alex Carey with all three in their mid to late 30s. Steve and Usman have played 205 Tests between them. That is a lot of experience, while Alex has played 43, tho he is probably good for one more year, maybe two. And like with our bowlers there is no one putting up figures that demand a batting or keeping Test debut. The two old timer bats probably wont wanna continue for much longer, or they lose form and have a poor Ashes series and will have to be the tapped on the shoulder . Then selectors will be forced to make a choice as to their successors.Article is behind a pay wall LFC. I have the gist tho.
