A-League Mens 25/26 - Round 2

SFC were nothing until they went ahead. Mariners defence had been ok and a lot of SFC shots really were low percentage - think Canada vs Australia before the Izzo one on one save.

In reality they scored an offside goal (Toure came back from an offside position and blocked Tapp defending. Definite offside. It wasn't a huge block - but enough to stop Tapp being in position) and a goal in the last minute of normal time. No doubt they were the better side - but not as dominant as the commentators would have it.

If the goal had been disallowed as it should have been then Sydney probably would have felt the strain. As it was once the goal was allowed they played with no pressure and looked ok without being inspiring.
In reality it should have been three, with the worst no penalty call you will ever see.

Melbourne city's first non-derby home match was in round 7 last year
They got 5060

compared to https://x.com/ALeaguesCrowds

Newcastle jets unfortunately 2k down on last year

so roughly crowds are roughly on track to be similar to last year

Maybe - didn't think it was live or on the first replay. Stepped out and then heard McBreen saying Mariners had dodged a bullet. I probably have to see it again. Still - that was after the offside goal when SFC looked a lot more relaxed

The goal was NOT offside, was checked and cleared, then again so was the blatant penalty.

Oh, go to bed, you were going well until the third and fourth sentences.
If Tapp had gone to ground it would have been given because Toure was coming back from an offside position and interfered with play. That is the fact. VAR shouldn't be encouraging players to overact. Tapp didn't but VAR did not do their job or should the rules only be applied selectively. BTW - still haven't looked at the De Lima handball - that will have to be tomorrow.

fear another long season ahead from the Glory , was really poor today
I just had a look at the squad and PG's back 3 was quite old. Kaltak, never the fastest player, is now even slower. Wooton and Risdon are in the same age bracket and none of them showed any desire. Zdrillic did have inexperienced defenders on the bench but made no subs. If he doesn't relegate Kaltak to the bench next week, then it is Zdrillic that needs to be benched.

Really high quality game Vic v Jets.

After watching second half, Vic was on top until Bad’s wondergoal at 78 mins.

Some very good possession play from MV.
