General A Leagues thread (Men and Women) 2025/26 season

lol yeah keep in mind everyone is a volunteer and its much easier if you self mod
I get passions fly and its fine to fight. But I did see a couple of things that I thought crossed the line
@Sharkman84 I do think the flight to Athens comments crossed the line and fall into the xenophobic "go back to where you came from" category
@Monoethnic Social Club I did see something about c%cks%cking which I believe counts as a homophobic slur. Others might have said that too
I won't do any modding without asking others, but if everyone could self mod and tidy up their own posts...

I have to say, the debate over "tossed salad" vs "melting pot" multiculturalism which got so tied up with the infrastructure of the game....my wife and I are facing that now despite us being aussie and american in the uk which you would think would be super similar cultures

Growing up I did prefer the tossed salad model, my oma's was practically a shrine to the non-existent prussia to cure the homesickness, going to friends house was like going to different cultures, whereas in the USA everyone does the same thing but eats different food. My mum was uber pro the melting pot model, probably because she got called polark in germany and Nazi in Australia so she seemed super keen to avoid that and fit in. Funny enough, all her friends 60 years after immigrating are still almost all foreigners (including brittish born) despite a life time of trying to fit in. Most of our friends in the UKare foreigners too, despite meeting some lovely brits. In the end, immigration is tough, wish it wasn't but it is what it is

Curious if Eames gets a start, it was a slow start for those born 2007 and 2008 who I would expect to start making inroads. I do hope that that generation is as strong as the 2005-2006 generation
Newcastle had a 2007 born cb mind you

Rumors are mariners dropped him because his talking to a MLS team without their knowledge

Not subscribed but AusFootHQ are saying that Minnesota United are one of multiple clubs interested in Haine Eames.
MLS really makes me nervous as a development league. There is a big gap between the best and worst players in a team which means that even if you are on the level you could get stuck with no game time

if you do get game time, you can use it as a decent springboard

Wow, that was heavy going! Until half an hour ago I hadn’t visited this thread since midday Thursday. 8-9 pages I had to wade through, and I am no better off for it 😂😂😂

Can anyone explain to me why Melb City play 1 home game in the first 7 rounds, and then play the next 7 games from there all at home?

They have probably the strangest fixture list i've ever seen.

Not sure how the scheduling has led to Melbourne City only getting one home game in the first seven rounds of the A-League Men season but maybe the fact that they're playing AFC Champions League Elite games also has something to do with it.

I'd say this is it
