Nothing they can do for the domestic game in Melbourne which lacks a half decent Italian team. Surprised Avondale didn't try to connect/partner with them considering those guys live in Avondale HeightsI was wondering when these guys would start backing the sport! All I've seen from them is AFL related.
Would a revival of Brunswick Juventus spark an interest for the Italian community in Melbourne or not reallyNothing they can do for the domestic game in Melbourne which lacks a half decent Italian team. is there not already a half-assed version of this in place?Would a revival of Brunswick Juventus spark an interest for the Italian community in Melbourne or not really
As a nostalgia thing maybe, but hard to say really... Alot of the old Brusnwick Juve fans jumped on Carlton SC when that was thing, now .... who knows?Would a revival of Brunswick Juventus spark an interest for the Italian community in Melbourne or not really
Spot on! I think its a mixture of too much of a distance between whatever success and any current relevence to be able to work! When we talk about community/team fragmentation the story of brunswick juve and all its so called 'successors' that came after reads like a key case study! For Melb Italians it’s afl or Melbourne victory now imo re Australian sport and/or a European club. The historic through line has been broken re Brunswick juventus, most people think the club doesn’t exist anymore or don’t believe the current Brunswick juventus to really be the “real” one. The history is too heavily diluted
Fwiw I know many who are actually very interested in Australian soccer/npl/the championship but they just don’t consider the current Brunswick juventus to be the “real” one. They don’t feel authentically represented by a club in that space, so yea it’s usually Melbourne victory even if they attend/take an interest in npl games. Was probably a factor in victory’s early success. Many quietly wish there was a Marconi or APIA or even Adelaide city equivalent in Melb and if they thought there was they might support it. Never say never, and probably if there was a club who could do anything in that space it would be Brunswick juventus due to name recognition. But a lot would have to change from the status quo and I see no evidence of that happening, can barely get back into npl. Just my 2cSpot on! This all makes sense based off the rabbithole I went down when doing my database for logos, etc - Brunswick Zebras, Manningham Juventus, Brunswick Juventus/Moreland Zebras all made me lost and very confused. Oh and Brimbank Stallions too (but that one was a bit more straight forward)Spot on! They never learnt the Griffith way - let's be realPretty shameful mismanagement of a club imo. There’s cultural factors specific to Melb as I’ve said a while back, but there’s no real reason why Brunswick juventus couldn’t have been a Marconi or Adelaide city equivalent given their early history, in fact that’s what they should have been

I think another issue is they share a ground with 2 other teams. Its also often used as a place to hold makeshift fixtures when teams can't play at their ground.Would a revival of Brunswick Juventus spark an interest for the Italian community in Melbourne or not really
