As soon as the Australian Championsip competition ends (or even earlier if we are eliminated as early as the quarters), the big existential questions about our clubs immediate future arise.

In theory, our supporters will not be seeing our full strength team in the flesh more than about 6 times.
 
I think Melbourne gets a 2 week hub for the oceania league, how many games are played in that period is anyones guess, best case we maybe get 3 games here.

As for returning fans i just dont think ppl will rock up in winter, the peak of our club was when we were a summer club and thats helped bring out more people for this championship.
 
Just a reminder that Yoogali SC - a club that Capital Football has kicked out of their NPL for being 'too far to travel to' (despite not finishing last in the league - the usual relegation slot) beat this side (Canberra Croatia) when they still had 12 of their matchday 18 from this match. 5 of the other 6 are post-season signings from across the Capital Football NPL. Nothing against Canberra Croatia - great club - but an indictment on Capital Football.

No idea, but it may very well be ebtter than we think.

As for the Summer/Winter debate, yes I know you are right. Personally Im not a fan of summer football, and probably never will be, but I guess we will have to see what the future holds... JJ was all gung ho about winter alignment and it doesn't stop the AFL or NRL playing in chilly weather.... we'll have to wait and see.

you could argue we didnt see our full strength squad for 2/3 of the 2025 NPL season anyway.....

I don't know man, that's not what I'm seeing. The top most liked comments seem to refer to fascist things, not because they're Croatian:

That third one distinctly distinguishes between the club and "Croatian Aussies".

If my local German club had pictures of Hitler hanging up, the problem isn't being German, it's the ongoing worship of the man. There's a major difference.

Tarnishing everyone at the clubs as a "fasho" isn't good though, a lot of honest good people involved. I hate people tarnishing Victory because of the bucket man riot, and that was just a bucket not a genocidal maniac.

Anyway, I apologise if I'm wrong.

Maybe you are right dude... Its no skin of my nose either way.. Perhaps not on this particular thread but if just seems like every time a wander over to see whats they are saying on Reddit its some fool or another having a crack at the Croatians. .....

Its always going to be tricky but it is workeable. The question marks now are bc we have entered 2 comps we knew little about how they would fare!
The championship.is playing out as we wanted so far and the exposure is a win either way, i agree these ppl may not be up for heart of winter football but our goal remains saturation, and we have the advantage to be able to do that and no one else..the winter football is for us die hards anyway and if we can atleast keep getting them to the summer games in their droves i feel it will spill over.. the need for h@a season in the championship is now more than ever bc bentlegh greens etc only matches will kill off any momentum again for those fans.
The question is how well our marketing etc can sell it, have to lool at different membership strucures etc anything short of a finals is both and we have failed.. we win these though and we have single handedly rusted on a new aspect to our fanbase i believe!
Things have to align with progress of championship, that is the key imo and i hope we are doing enough to grow that comp.

I think you're right too. There are flogs everywhere unfortunately, especially on social media. As long as their "likes" are towards the bottom haha, some sites' algorithms move shit comments to the top for engagement.
 
Back to the Championship 😄 I'm genuinely excited that it's working. The crowds are fine. The product is a step up from NPL. I've watched it all, it's just too important for our football landscape.

They must've fixed the broadcast issues from last week because I didn't note any criticisms. And there does seem more of a buzz with clubs representing each state/fed, it's something to seriously consider with a format going forward.

Mate I'm only defending Croatians by distancing them from the shit. As you say, shit fans are shit fans, and fascists are fascists. That's great that the club itself doesn't have those portraits. I've certainly seen the bad paraphernalia amongst some "fans", there are shit fans everywhere.

It’s because the fans have requested to have the Olympic rings in the clubs crest for a long time because it originally included them. but it was a copyright issue with the international Olympic committee or whoever that they couldn’t do it. So it was speculated that maybe they got it over the line with some weird little one off deal but not ongoing usage. Obviously the name “Olympic” the concept has Greek connotations. The club was rebranded “Olympic” when they entered the nsl as a foundation club, prior to that it was called Pan Hellenic
