Media bias against Australian football

That's bullshit! Football has always ignored Aboriginals in the game except a minimal few. I even remember at school wanting to play soccer only for all the ethnics to tell me to go play rugby. Even being a %100 Aussie you will always find it hard to get into a club unless you have half the alphabet or Vich in your last name. Also Football has priced it self out of cheaps sports for kids to play, AFL is only a few bucks where as soccer is over $1000 a year or more.
Are you Aboriginal?

Yes i am, why?
Curious, if there was one policy (or 2) you wish the football community would advocate for to make the football community a better place for Aboriginals, what would it be?

Aka football australia should do x, y and z

Just asking, because I know what Greek, Italian, Jewish, Croatian, Maltese, Hungarians, Macedonians football fans want to right the wrongs of the past. But I probably have a bunch of blind spots to how we have let down Aboriginals

In the Fan View article written by Midfielder, he used the words ‘ legacy media’.

I’ve only just heard the term. It is used to describe newspapers, TV and radio. Younger Aussies supposedly get their news from different sources.

IMO there is virtually no free coverage of football by legacy media.

My Grandma was a Barkindji elder have some respect. Im %100 Australian.

I follow the Nix and like to stir up about all things NZ.

She may well be Australian but that doesn't mean you are.

If you are born in New Zealand and live there you are 100% Kiwi.

My grandfather was English but I wouldn't call myself a Pom.

If I was in charge of the A League I'd have an all star game in the pre season. An Indigenous players XI v An overseas All Star XI.

Indigenous players wouldn't necessarily have to be A League players, they could be playing at NPL level. Overseas players could include New Zealanders.

You could play the game at Darwin's football stadium. SBS might televise it on NITV if 10 or P+ weren't particularly interested.

Good idea ir not?

That's thoughtful, but First Nations Australians in ⚽ constitute only a (for all intents&purposes)tiny %age of supporters/participants of the game in this country - and furthermore their sporting-loyalties lie nigh-inextricably w/AFL, NRL etc.

Of course we all know there've been notable figures of Indigenous heritage involved in the game here(Charlie Perkins, John Moriarty etc.), but the fact remains that kids of that background dream of becoming the next Nicky Winmar or Johnathon Thurston - not the next David Williams or Travis Dodd, let alone a First Nations equivalent of Irankunda or Jordy Bos.

Fair answer.

Fair answer.
Going back to your OG post though, I've said for ages that an A-League All-Star game between homegrown(this would include NZ) and overseas players in years when a foreign-club can't come down to play against a unified ALM XI, is something the league should've long committed to by now. Of course the main caveat is it being possible only when there are enough visa-players in the comp@ the same time to make up a full-XI w/subs...and since the league is notorious for not pursuing visa-players as GKs, that makes it all the more improbable.

NoMates - your style of posting over the years set the path about you afraid to say - you could have navaho indian blood for all I care but couldn't believe anything you say - only your audience/rating posts look credible.
You set that path.
Bit harsh.

I’ve thought NM just likes a bit of a laugh.
