My last question regarding Rockdale and Bankstown, as i dont want to derail the thread, however;

did all Bankstown city lions supporters convert to Rockdale fans once Bankstown was relegated? i speak to a few close maco mates and they are Bankstown boys and refuse to support Rockdale, which he says there is a rivalry.

There definitely is a rivalry and dislike and I would say it’s increased after they’ve taken our best ever player

But for the fans I have Maco fans out from yagoona, menai, padstow etc that would come to Rockdale games rather then Bankstown beacause of recent success and just even to hang out + Rockdales juniors help too and Bankstown being a basket case for the last 15 years they have lost a generation of fans

For the fan that jumped field and starting pushing the Sydney United players I can assure this guy is not a rockdale fan and not even Macedonian

Heard about that and honestly pretty disappointed every club has bad apples in its fanbase

Also heard it was a rough game on the pitch and even both coaches going back and forth

I’m not by any means saying that whatever they did was correct but the way Marconi players carry themselves in the first game this season just passed was poor and a now former Marconi player even making fun a of a passed away Rockdale player people won’t be happy
 
Yer following a few comments I got to say Rockdale young gen fans and whoever they are from have been a prob for a number of years.
Even at U16/u18 levels when in Cup games or friendlies I just don’t get why the terrible angst on the pitch even by players when behind let alone the coach’s on the sideline adding to the angst and aggro.
These occurred during my sons games - one coach was picking fights with our players on the bench ffs.
Going to the Snr games I sometimes wonder why I go for you just don’t know what to expect by those young fan idiots.
One time they threw crap on the pitch from over the fence near the car park.
Sad - they are a strong club have some solid teams why let these so called supporters behave as such.

Anyway let’s move on !
Looking forward to Friday night.

Especially if we then also assume Sydney United had ~2000 and South Hobart surely in the higher 1000s at least.

Avondale game was close to if not 2000 as well

We just gotta be realistic and understand these clubs don't have the support they once did Are they capable of attracting new fans? I'm not so sure, but I certainly hope so!

Like you said, I view this tournament as a "one off", hence why I expencted a bigger crowd.

You posted that you viewed the tournament as a "one off" and I was wondering why? If you expect them to grow and question whether they are capable of doing so or not, then its pretty promising (at least from my point of view) that crowds where almost double/triple what most are getting for regular NPL as recently as a few month ago.
