A very powerful industry with tentacles in all places. Can't help but be in awe of the beast.

Can't feel safe taking your family though:



I only post these things as an archive for when they come at us with some BS about soccer. Their incidents are quickly forgotten because it suits the industry.

Their self-promotional talk in itself isn’t what really bothers me anymore - what does is the fact that the FFA/APL have for the past 2 decades and continue to suck up to those people, despite all the evidence indicating that they don’t want to GAF about ⚽️…

They'll object to that descriptor because they make a big deal about being a remnant of the old Fitzroy Lions.

I guess that makes them an ethnic club in brisbane retaining some of their victorian migrant identity
 
Have to say, you really notice how anglo all the names of players are watching an afl match

probably much more anglo than the general population

In a sport as inextricably-monocultural as it, that stands to reason. Bears to keep in mind also that not all of these guys* are from the big-smoke; heaps are from rural VIC/SA/WA where let’s face it, the White Australia Policy never fully went away(demographically, anyway)


*AFL players in a general sense I mean, not necessarily the ones involved in this GF

Other than First Nations, yes.

The Greeks used to be more heavily-represented, but I notice over the last 15 or so years that’s seemingly no longer the case.
