World news and politics.

The sentiment above is a logical assessment of the situation. In turn that's why everyone involved in this debate culture needs to do better. Unfortunately each side has a rabid selection vilifying anyone with different opinions or way of life. The left have their own Charlie Kirk's and they claim to be telling the truth. I'm pretty sure that Andrea Junker is a bot. Vile account. Brian Tyler Cohen gets fact checked and is a clown. His no BS claim is BS.

You see someone like John McCain who would immediately shut down insightful questions about the other side. He'd always say it was about working together.

Those responsible for education would never wants schools to start peaceful debating skills at a young age. They wouldn't want them speaking civilly. Not to mention the number of households that preach intolerance too.
Spot on - but will have to note the use of 'insightful' (I'm guessing you meant 'inciteful'?) Realistically, we should be discussing things insightfully.

I mean I feel like I'm on the opposite end of 'the culture wars' to a lot of people here - but that doesn't mean we should be spewing the shit at eachother.

I can't remember where I read this - but.. look, US culture has come a long way between JFK being killed while in office being a sad day on both sides of the divide, to now these multiple assasinations on both sides being treated as gotcha moments.

I'm glad we live in a country where, yes we have lunatics - but as things stand, we won't be in the powder keg like in the States.

Yep 'inciteful' 7am swipe type on phone :D

America is so far gone and Australia is comparatively way back. Thankfully it's still use of words than guns.

I don't know exactly when but I felt the culture wars had died down but they're both flared back up and entered a new phase. I for one found it all very exhausting and I think a lot of people who never really got into it just try to keep away but it keeps creeping into everyday aspects of life. Can't we just enjoy ourselves for a bit?

You know EXACTLY when it started creeping in again. Those funny little red hats started popping up everywhere :P

Life in the internet age

Thankfully we grew up in a time where we didn't know every blown Joe's opinion. We ought to shut it off more.

Saw a video with a Harvard psychologist who said it's just making people sick. Same after matches, what do the socials say? Lot of comments where you think it's just delusional. Mostly the Roos Facebook. We can also just brush this off yet humans are susceptible to getting sucked in.

who's really are the "Fasho's" these days?

The ones who kill you cause you don't agree with what they say....

lol
Crime is crime as they say but one may have to ask which groups resort to the more brutal type. Each side certainly does it but petrol bombing vs shooting in public is a different approach.

It's so evident that those who claim to be liberal have become so illiberal in the last 20 years.

Debates held at Oxford or Cambridge as part of a society are a much better listen than these obviously gotcha entertainment podiums.

It's weird when you see people saying he was a defender of freedom of speech and then losing their shit at people saying something they don't like about him..

If we shut off the internet can we keep green and gold fc open?

That's the conundrum we're in. Freedom of speech, how about decency? The retort will be Kirk didn't speak with decency. It's just tit for tat.

People will have to face consequences for their words like getting the sack but it gets so overblown now where one wrong comment and you're gone. This is even worse in places with weak labour laws.

I don't know how to manage these internet freaks. I guess kids can just be educated on how fake and overblown the place is just like how some literature isn't worth your time. Is regulation akin to banning or burning books. Maybe.

“You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and then not expect awful actions to take place,” Mr Dowd said on the network.

“That’s the unfortunate environment we’re in.”

The backlash was so fierce, MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler took to social media to quickly condemn the comments.

“During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive, and unacceptable,” Ms Kutler said in a statement on X after the segment.

“We apologize for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise.”

However, he has since been stood down from the network

At the end of it all, this left v right stuff - nobody even knows why. It could be someone in his own sphere, someone he's campaigning against on the right...a gay lover (to steal a line from Naked Gun).

Clearly the person is either very good with weapons or a professional, which raises more questions than answers.
