Soccer Ashes thread

Exciting squad! Apart from a few inclusions / exclusions, and form pending of course, wouldn't be too upset if the bulk of this squad made the final WC squad.
 
Some very exciting players here & looking forward to see how they perform.
Now did Poppa stay safe with players for WC qualification & now with a bit time can see which of these young guys can step up?

We live in interesting times.
 
Overlooked Segecic on first glance. Didn't expect to see him after he was picked for the U23 team. Very happy with that.
 
Seems like a squad most people will be pleased with?

Agree but I haven't watched him so possibly he has developed. Playing for a big club means it is tougher to make yourself a first team player, so he deserves the look.

Hrustic has played in the front three for Popa, would Luongo more likely fit in midfield? Maybe Teague was a bit lucky. It feels like Luongo would be close to our best two midfielders based on the level he has been at the last few years.

Is Elder the unlucky one? Jed Drew another. Other than those two (and Luongo) none really spring to mind.
 
I'm pretty happy with that squad. I would have had Luongo and Devlin over Teague and Hrustic but it's not bad.

I would like to see Bennie at RWB but while he isn't playing it's hard to criticise the omission. Although that doesn't seem to apply to Teague for e.g.

I'm really glad to see Balard, Segecic, Toure, Irankunda, Botic, Kalik and Silvera.

Circati should be Captain. Will probably be Boyle.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Degenek as captain.
 
I'm expecting Ryan Thomas to shred though the Socceroo's midfield, he hasn't played for the nation team in 6 years and its good to have him back in the NZ line up.

Agree with this post entirely. Despite being a Popovic critic, I'd go a step further and say that I'm VERY happy with this squad. I think he's nailed it. Credit where credit is due.
