It has but why? How does 2 different coaches call up the same player? What does the club feel about this?

Again the media *crickets*
I don't remember if the Irankunda situation was communicated poorly or not at all. It's just ridiculous to think there isn't regular planning and consideration between each national team.

Segecic named.

Very interesting squad choices, looks like most people eligible for the U20 world cup haven't been selected, perhaps resting them for the window a couple of weeks after.

2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup

Players born between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2009 (inclusive) are eligible to compete in the tournament.

Also a note that for this Asian Cup Qualifiers:
Players born on or after 1 January 2003 are eligible to participate, in accordance with the age criteria set by the Asian Football Confederation.
So current 22 year olds such as Marlee Francois, Jacob Farrell and Nicholas Bilokapic are no longer eligible.

Here's some Olyroos eligible players that haven't been called up, underlined are players eligible for the Olyroos and not the under 20s but haven't been called up.

Max Vartuli (20 January 2005) | U20 Eligible
Ethan Cox (7 January 2004)

A bit of a weaker squad than the cohort could be, but should be good enough to get us through. Looks like a lot of olyroos players from overseas like Piol, Goodwin and Girdwood-Reich are not given travel time, while understandable that Bovalina is called up as he seems completely frozen out.

And then we have Matthews, Circati and Mohamed Toure who will most likely be called up to national team.

Based upon this it just confuses me why Segecic/Drew were called up, which seems to be the same distance as others like Borges Rodrigues but they have not been called up.

And it seems like pretty much every U20 eligible player who are a step above our U23 cohort are being held for the U20 squad, which is why Vidmar seems to have been called ahead of the likes of Kikianis and Eposito.

So it seems like Periac-Cullen, who seems to be the only U20 Eligible player in the Olyroos squad, potentially won't make the world cup squad, with Hoefsloot, Hall and Vartuli? If he is in there - which I think he should be over at least Vartuli then I'd be confused by these selections.

Potentially Irankunda being U20 Eligible could still not be in the senior squad and be in the U20 squad, I believe Watford would need to release him though and I doubt that will happen.

I remember he originally wasn’t call up to the Olyroos and asked to be an injury replacement for Marco Tilio which I think he’s club rejected, he threw a fit that he wasn’t sure about he’s international future and then Arnie picked him for the Bangladesh and Palestine games.

Clearly reactive decision making from the coaches, I wonder if there is a problem in promoting these young guys in? Spain have no problem with promoting Yamal into their squad, it seems age is a barrier for the national team coaches.

I think it is pretty fair to presume that there is a fair few rubbish operators in and around player management at Football Australia - I mean how many of the peeps at the top are jumping ship since Johnson showed them the way??

Also lets not forget that Vidmar is still running the show with the U23s and is luckier than some prick that found a lotto ticket in a gutter and then won powerball!

Also Ben Gibson named who the All Whites were monitoring.

Not to mention he's picked his Son again!!! Blatant nepotism, considering who he could pick - Leonard, Girdwood-Reich, Kikianis, Matthews etc etc

Carl Veart's first squad

what is the year cutoff?

Interesting they are utilizing the emerging socceroos rather than just a league academies. That seems pretty positive tbh since it casts the net wider than I think we did in thepast

Has seemed very single state based in the past, with token selections from the other Member Federations.
