I’d advocate the opposite of riquelmes_laces’ suggestion, ie. beefing the kids up once their bodies have adequately matured. This is where we could make use of AFL strength&conditioning methodology(bc that of the rugby codes is too extreme & even less relevant to commonI've always had in my mind WHY didn't we keep some of our ol Aussie "physical" DNA mixed in the technical improvement approach.
Like I have no problem improving our players technical abilities one bit thats a given but all successful winning Clubs and NT's have their mongrel players.
Be it CB's CM's - even the modern day winning Argies in Qatar have the mongrels that are not technical prince's but they know their position very very well.
Grella is the classic example of old, we have no one like him, Jedi, they are coached out of selection.
You can name plenty right now in top flight the mongrels doing the dirty work, take the yellow for team under the pump, that all important sliding tackle that technical play makers don't do.
LFC's MacAllister beast of a player, ain't pretty all game at times ugly but damn effective !
At least talking forwards here Yengi does have some mongrel in him.
Hope he keeps improving late bloomer 25yrs, maybe best is yet to come being optimistic.
