- striking is still in the same category as passing (page 20) there was a worry that this underemphasizes goal scoring
- gives a plan for how to improve players physically.

I’ve read it and to be honest it felt underwhelming, didn’t explain what programs or changes to formats we needed to improve us technically. I.e what happens to SAP, SSGs formats etc? It mentions coaching but what happens to current AFC license holders?

Anyway in my opinion Merrick comes from someone that is from the past, I always felt you need someone that could see football from the future that is younger who has fresh ideas.

Anyway it’s all a mess at the moment given the FFA NC is not on FA’s website anymore…

This stuff needs buy in as well, if you make changes you need to ask the people who are going to implement your plan what you going to do.

Because they are the ones they are going to bring it to life and without consultation and dialogue it will not have the legs to that last long for it to come into life.

Anyway I’m annoyed today give how we actually let good players we actually develop go away to other nations so im sorry it’s gotten to other topics lol.

A national style is probably one of the most controversial ideas that keeps popping up here and other developing countries

I can see the logic, international coaches get so few training sessions with players it would be great if they all played the same way

Having said that, its not my area of expertise, but i imagine there is also a heavy cost to players being only exposed to a limited number of playing styles

Yep I’m hardly an expert on this stuff either but usually in business if you want to execute a business plan even if it’s decided from the top you need buy in from your stakeholders which is why consultation and dialogue is a must.

A national style of play is a sound idea and often helps bring in national teams players and coaches in a more consistent way I.e like how Spain have done it.

It’s so frustrating to watch the Socceroos play a different brand of football to the youth teams as an example.

"Regardless of whether FA are in the wrong here, something's not right with the game's governing body ATM. As highlighted in The Australian's media diary column today, several senior staff have left in the last few months, including CEO James Johnson, chief of staff Alex Devani, chief football officer Ernie Merrick, chief marketing officer Peter Filopoulos, chief operating officer Mark Falvo, media and comms manager Rebecca Trbojevich, and media manager Ann Odong.

One "insider" told them: "The paranoia at Football Australia is reaching fever pitch - I've had so many staff members, office, technical, contractors, legal tell me that FA is toxic."

Reminds me of the world wide search conducted by Tony Walmsely for the Mariners manager job where he concluded he was.
 
So, FA have flushed more cash down the drain by engaging a firm to conduct a global search, only to find the "best" candidate was already in the chair. Utopia stuff 😂

Some similarities to when Football Queensland found their current CEO, although allegedly in that case the firm engaged (and paid) to do the search was owned by the FQ chairman.

The same as every other piece of corporate-speak, i.e., fuck all. It's just words to fill in space in a press release.
