They should have started them in the normal Jnr comps if at all and let them work earn their way up.
This easy straight to go route was a slap in the face to all in clubland And took away a spot from a club that could have been on the fringe of making it to the top NPL let alone still taking spots.
Sick of this mob having had the easy routes.
FA and Feds weak as piss.

Doesn't exist anymore & isn't the whole point of development playing against men and not 18 year olds

Jets had to work their way up from NPL4 lol, if I remember correctly the only one that got a free ride straight into PL1 was Mariners way back when in 2013 and they got relegated that season

I can't speak for the other youth teams, but I thought Victory did indeed earn their way into NPL?

But still, the "whatever" approach isn't thought-out nor ideal for future Socceroos. We currently have 11 youth teams playing against 85 men's teams from various states, gaining experience facing a multitude of playing styles, and higher levels of physical and mental toughness. But let's go back to boys playing the same boys for a few weeks, that'll work 😐

City/Victory got the same deal Sydney FC/WSW got. Spot in NPL2

It doesn't exist cause the AL clubs didnt want to fork out $$$$ anymore

Sydney FC & CCM got a free ride into NPL 1

WSW started in NPL 2

JETS NPL 3

Wsw and jets started in the lower leagues as all the other clubs cracked the shits and accused FNSW of favouritism etc.

They all should have started from npl4 in the first place or whatever league below.
I could t recall the facts and check wiki or whatever in google but most got a easy ride compared to the usual clubs
Lastly we had Bulls buy or haggle northbridge straight into Npl1.
That’s it plain and simple.

Before anyone gets confused - 'Round 19' is this weekend, and it seems Round 20 was essentially a catch-up round played throughout the season (2 matches across June, and in fact the first game of the season in March was a 'Round 20' matchup between Yoogali and Tigers FC in Griffith that ended in a 2-2 draw)

Would actually probably agree with this, I don’t know if that’s exactly the same thing as npl vic being “better” overall. Mid table teams are probably comparable. There are more teams in npl nsw so maybe the bottom teams are worse. Probably not a hugely different standard overall.

Tbh maybe I’m being harsh but I still don’t feel like Marconi have been that impressive at times despite leading for most of the season and winning last years GF. Just a lot of grinding out results mixed in with some good performances, and then a some bad performances
 
I'm no fan of Avondale but like in all honesty, they've been top tier this past decade, if they were in the a league, id expect them to be a finalist team.

The biggest spenders are Avondale, Preston and Oakleigh. Thats the top 3 then daylight.

South would be in the next tier with Heidelberg and probably dandy thunder.

They have no history and that’s pretty much the only thing that drives attendance at the lower level in this country, tradition. That’s also one of the main reasons for lack of interest at Italian clubs in Melb in general, the historical through lines have been broken/heavily diluted. The league/lure of the titles themselves have little appeal/value with the artificial ceiling in place. it’s basically just historical rivalries, tradition and loyalty which keep people interested.

Re Avondale, as I’ve said before, always concerning when a club all of a sudden comes into money based on the backers alone, makes them heavily reliant on one person or group of people for their continued survival. As you say, if for some reason they decide to pull out as suddenly as they arrived, avondale will likely tumble down the leagues as quickly as they rose

Without flogging a dead horse, that pretty much parallels what happens to Aleague franchises when the money dries up.
