Sign Up Now!This is the problem with a federated model. Football Australia should be able to instruct Football Queensland or Football Tasmania as operational arms of Football Australia. However, the federated model we operate under where the states are separate legal entities means they supposedly operate as they see fit for the good of the state they represent that for the good of the game nationally.Only in Australia!!! ... the world over, (except perhaps the US), the FA would say this is it, its going ahead like it or not, so deal with it (to APL), im the boss and these are the criteria meet them or not (to championship clubs).. all cards on table here is the pre reqs, down to you! In Australia we try to appease even the non stake holder despite no reason to do so!
Reagrding the APL, the reality is, the franchises dont matter and shouldnt bc they are stand alone as we know! Any disproportionate vote they have at FA could and should be restricted to the single vote as an APL at best or if they remain then they can recuse themselves from it bc of conflict of interest! This would be logical and legal..
Championship isnt up for pro rel at the moment and a timeline of say 2034 to appease the franchise owners isnt the most negative thing ever (not exactly ideal but atleast its a timeline that would suit most), as all will need time to (begin now and) adjust to the new reality and for the new comp to solidify, but more importantly this will allow (not so much for the buzz phrase of 'unity') but the development of viability for all stakeholders from an economic perspective.. with the models.in place its then viable to interconnect them and grow and sell the product as a complete system to tv! Any A league tv deal now shouldve worked towards that goal also (best self interest of all).
Regarding the championship, the FA not being able to even get its own house in order and correct minor issues like football qld/sunshine coast and football tasmania/sth hobart which are clearly capable and viable candidates portrays its inability (or want) to deliver to either party!
To paraphrase the great: What would we be if we were joined to another object,by an incline plane, wrapped helically around and axis?”
Well said, LFC.Graz and pod team - been really busy of late finished the pod earlier this morn.
Having guests such as Galatas - Michael Lynch makes for great intel of the game from their perspective.
Keep up the good work Nick G, your right we should all be alot more positive and supportive.
Yep - I think NG also quoted as such and I like the mention pretty much of, nothing ventured nothing gained might I add, all this talk of not enough money, how can these Clubs survive and all other what IF's, give it a go and see where it ends up.Liked the notion of the end of season Champ League formation of 2 teams from each state, plus ACT and NT having 1 team apiece, to play off for a AL 2 berth. Great idea! I think it was Mike from South Melb.
As per above agreed.Nick also proves a lot of background on FFA or FA's rationale to reject the NST over time. He uses some very sound rationale for why include a NST and promo/releg, not to constantly knock it back, because it isn't the perfect model by detractors.
This was damming actually as he expressed, the FA handed over the top flight with no compensation might I add, no slight form of control for the fact is the FA is the Governor of Football in the entire country and have handed it over to a business consortium to do as they please, seriously this is utterly ridiculous position to be in.Moreover, Nick sheds light on the problem of governance where the AL franchises have the ability to make decisions that effect the entire Aus football milieu, not just the AL.
and further more this with the above, here we have the APL that can block or make it very difficult not just for our governing body and the knockoff effect to the whole football eco system.Furthermore, Nick argues that more decisions need to be made to advantage the entire football community in Aus, not just the AL and the top tier. He provides concrete examples how this has happened.
that was another rippa to hear about even though we've seen the many other failures they have made with their funding from sponsers. In addition, he expounds on how the AL clubs have wasted money on player salaries, when the money put up should have been for building or securing grounds for clubs to own.
Haha to be fair he isnt calling any person a name which i believe was what he was asking forView attachment 3022
No more name-calling... Wow, I think Mike's turned a corner!

Wait, scratch that.
Looks like it was about "words/phrases designed to conquer & divide". He's not exactly walking the walk.Haha to be fair he isnt calling any person a name which i believe was what he was asking for
Well hopefully one day he joins the forum so he can have these sorts of conversations himselfLooks like it was about "words/phrases designed to conquer & divide". He's not exactly walking the walk.
I know you and some here are good mates with him and that's cool. He has a great platform, I just wish he wouldn't be "divisive" with it, I thought we were past silly, disparaging terms. Live what you preach. I'll leave it there.
Apart from misspelling #McFranchises, I see nothing offensive here? Dont the actual APL refer to their clubs as franchises? And Mcdonalds is a whole of comp sponsor?View attachment 3022

Look, Im nobody's defense lawyer but calling an academy fake when it is a pay to play system is a fair shout. If we did a survey of A-League fans and asked them if they think calling their teams and league "McFranchises" and "FAKE" is uniting
, how do you think they'll feel? He's preaching about not being divisive here. There is countless proof out there that these terms are indeed divisive. I'm positive he realises that. And I'm sure you can see the hypocrisy, too. He'd be a shocking diplomat haha, there are Mandela's in this world, and then there are Trump's. Interesting that he doesn't speak like that on the pods. It's just disappointing, as one not being divisive is easily rectified.
Hate to tell you but NPL clubs are subject to Club Licensing Regulations set by FA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), which include criteria for governance, financial management, and player registration. Non-compliance with these standards could result in:Look, Im nobody's defense lawyer but calling an academy fake when it is a pay to play system is a fair shout.
I agree, perhaps the Mcdonalds part may be a little divisive but franchise isn't/shouldn't be a dirty word to Aleague fans.... It is the simple reality of the professional football landscape they follow. "Clubs" are geographically based businesses trading under a franchise agreement with APL which can be withdrawn at a whim, just ask Western Melbourne Group, or Fury or Gold Coast....
If Aleague fans find the term offensive perhaps they may want to re-think what it is they believe they are a part of?
Sure, those club licensing regulations (a great thing in my opinion) are to facilitate compliance in order to participate in a league structure as designated by the FA... Non compliance leads to withdraw of ability to play in a league NOT a destruction of the non-for profit entity.. Look at Sunshine Coast playing in England or even South forced to chase spots in Oceania now .... The club, not having any owners, will survive regardless of what league it is able to play in... even amateur church league. in front of 6 people... An Aleague franchise is just that, a franchise agreement between an owner(s) and the APL group... nothing more, nothing less.... no ability to play in the Alegaue means instant death....Hate to tell you but NPL clubs are subject to Club Licensing Regulations set by FA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), which include criteria for governance, financial management, and player registration. Non-compliance with these standards could result in:
Revocation of the club’s license, preventing participation in NPL or national competitions.
Conditional licensing, requiring the club to rectify issues within a specified timeframe.
These are the same basic regulations that applied to Western United. Gold Coast and NQ I suspect didn't work under a similar framework and that looked more like a whim.
No arguments from me, they are franchises. But that's not what he says, it's the degrading terms that are divisive, and that's the point he's trying to make. "Franchises" is a fact, "McFranchise", "FAKELook, Im nobody's defense lawyer but calling an academy fake when it is a pay to play system is a fair shout.
