Hey, this is a bit of a random one, but I’ve been asked by some representatives of the Salvadoran football association (and the ambassador of El Salvador) to pass on any details of players who are eligible for El Salvador who are in NPL or the A-League. They have been going down the ancestry.com route for a while now, and they are desperate to expand their talent pool.

I have passed on some info about some junior NPL brothers I have met in Canberra, but they are especially interested in A-League academies etc. Outside of my personal connections, it’s pretty hard to find details about who might be eligible, as it’s not always obvious. My wife is half Salvadoran and her maiden name is White lol

Do any of you know of players of any notable level who are eligible for El Salvador (birth, citizenship, parents or grandparents)? Or do you have any ideas of how I might even be able to find this kind of information out?

I’m always checking transfermarkt.com and other online sources, but I feel like I’m a bit stuck.

I’d appreciate any feedback you guys have. Perhaps some of the NPL experts on here might have some ideas?

Interesting mate... I gather you are a citizen or have Salvadorean ancestry?

Going off Facebook there seems to be two Australian Salvadorian soccer teams; El Salvador Perth and El Salvador Soccer Club (In Brisbane), I would check with them I guess. However I am not sure that would have players that are Salvadorian or meet an international standard of football, but they may be able to put you onto some more people.
Bloody effniks... can't believe Lowy didnt manage to kill them all off.

I am heavily involved in the Salvadoran/latino community in Canberra, though am ethnically very Anglo haha. My wife’s family and my previous adventures in the Americas have seen me become an honorary member of the community. I’m sure you would be able to appreciate how important it has been for my in-laws to hold onto their culture and language etc. so my primary home culture is more Latino than Australian. It’s something that I deeply enjoy and appreciate. We’re raising my son to be bilingual and he’s a very white little Latino toddler haha

As a football person, I love being able to have someone to cheer for and I’m keen to see El Salvador get back to their glory days of the 80s. I’m just trying to do a bit to at least make my grandfather in-law less depressed about the national team haha

Anyway, that’s my life story haha

Great idea. Thanks for the input!

Check football manager database as well
That’s a good idea. Is there a way to check this without needing to own the game? Like is there an online database? Or do any others on here have FM24 and the time to do a quick search?

Thats brilliant mate... Always had a lot of respect for the latino community here and work/have friends that are Colombian, Chilean, Argentinean and one mad Honduran :) Lovely people and families all of them and our commonalities far outweigh any differences in language .... helps that we all have the one true language of football in common, although makes for some very interesting, shall I say, "discussions".

Bravo to you raising a little white Latino toddler :) Make sure he can strike the ball with both feet eh? :)

Thanks heaps! While a lot of those are probably a long way off the national team, some of the younger guys will be worth keeping an eye on.

Also, I was aware of the Maniti brothers. I believe they have already represented the Philippines at junior level. Though, that wouldn’t lock them in yet, so it’s worth me passing that info on too.

I’m keen to look at Santi Flores a bit more and see what the story is there. Hopefully, that’ll be something positive to pass on.

Thanks heaps to all who’ve contributed.

Interesting; I thought Dominic Amaya (Brisbane Roar NPL) was the only Salvadorean-Aussie player currently@ at an A-League or NPL side.

There used to be a Salvie ethnic-club (Cuscatlán FC) in Melbourne back the early-mid-'00s, but it's my understanding that they've long since folded. IIRC they competed in the Bayside FA comp when Hampton Park Utd were members of it and not of the FootballVIC pyramid.

If you buy the game you also get access to the editor, that is where you can search for every player that is in the database. Its worth mentioning that the latest version of football manager is Football Manager 2024 and is technically out of date.
Also worth noting, for those who don't want to make the one-off buy for the game - if you have Xbox Game Pass (possibly only on the Ultimate/PC version) then you also get access to FM24

Hi mate, Erick here from El Salvador Perth, I just stumbled across this forum and thought I'd chime in.

I can confirm Santi Flores is of Salvadorian descent through his father. Still so young with unbelievable talent and strength for his age - he was involved in a couple of games for Glory's A-League side in pre-season late-2024 before he started having trouble with his knee.

Denis Galan is also another one here in WA playing with full Salvadoran blood - he's been a stalwart in the WA NPL for maybe 15 years now or more.

These are the only two in the WANPL of Salvadoran heritage at the moment, but we've got some floating around the State League.

We've got a full list on our El Salvador Perth Facebook page of players. Feel free to flick us a message for anything on this side of the country.
