Yep
This one?

I found an old post of mine when looking for that. I think it was a sports report:

Yep thats the one thanks! I believe that is the one where adelaide city say they have the 500k

The two you mentioned, should not be in the league.

I think after twenty years we should be aiming higher than 4k.
Sutho - 4k avg is a good and reasonable stepping stone to work with, our game needed smaller steps to grow not this blown out make believe BIG front cover approach.
Aiming higher bit your Pro league due to many factors main thing being ignornace < may not be the right description more so wrong business model a square peg to fit into a round hole - known Clubs would have a far better chance to grow/expand their local supporter base than searching for event goers.

I think you get it. Football in WA just doesn't have anywhere near the same money behind it as other states. I've been involved with a couple of clubs and seen the inner workings.

Why? Maybe because WA was kept out of the NSL for a long time so clubs here just competed in their own pond. And when Perth Glory came along I think a lot of sponsorship money shifted to the big league.

People are increasingly losing interest in local football, crowds are rubbish, media barely mentions it - even Perth Glory get nothing near the attention they used to - Perhaps Perth Glory being a basketcase for most of their A League existance doesn't help.

If Azzuri or Macedonia got into an NST no one would give a shit.
I watched 3 odd thousand Kingsway fans on Youtube last night who MAY offer a different perspective .... I reckon a few of THEM may be interested in their club achieving glory on the national stage... they certainly seemed elated last night :)

I think I heard the commentators say Kingsway had temp seating put in just for the game. Crazy for a midweek game in which the home side probably wasn't favoured to win.
Who would have thought a competition that provides opportunities to all clubs in the country would have increased public interest.

That why I am so mad at the lies the FA is so clearly telling us about the Championship financials.

A local council in Perth was willing to stump up 40K for a one off match yet somehow we are led to believe that they wouldn't be keen to support a club like Kingsway promoting their local constituents on the national stage??? From memory South Hobart council did something similar for their cup game? Its all ludicrous...

It’s not about supporting one or two clubs financially it’s about the financial viability of the league as a whole.
The A League is on ‘life support’ why do we want to have the NST also struggling to pay the bills?
The argument that we should just GO NOW regardless doesn’t make sense.

WHAT BILLS? Apart from flighst and accomodation what other expenses are you talking about.. The clubs could drum up sponsors support easily (if exposed on the national stage) for the extra 200-300k in wages they would need to go full time...

This is a lower level comp, no bells or whistles needed. No corporate boxes or themed rounds or cavernous 60k 1/4 filled stadiums... just existing clubs willing to show a bit of ambition... even at bare bones $25 per attendance Kingsbury would have taken in north of 75K last night.. thats the wage bill for a a few weeks easily?

A fair point. My intel is a few years old. Kingsway to their credit spent quite a few years in state league 1 doing the right thing - getting themselves ready for a top flight return and to be ready when they got there.

Perhaps the big clubs of the last 20 years or so aren't up to it anymore.

Athena have been relegated despite finally ridding themselves of the old Greeks who'd 'forget' to bank the canteen and/or bar takings. A few years ago I heard Perth SC were only getting a third of the sponsorship they were used to - and its no secret they spend less on players than they used to - and their table position shows this.

Kingsway, Macedonia, Redstar and good old Baywater do seem to have some financial backing - however none of them have a lazy 500k sitting around they can throw at a speculative push for a pipe dream.

that said, i don't doubt these clubs aren't thinking about it - but they will wait and see what happens.

two games - glory v wellington was played there too.

Sure, but it DOES seem to indicate the council may be keen to get on board financially? As for it being Kingsway or Floreat or Azzuri .. TBH it makes no difference .... ANY club with ambition around Australia deserves a shot, if the "effnikz" have had their day (mine included) so be it... just give them ALL a fair chance.

I doubt your figures are accurate, mostly just a guess. The Olympic Kingsway game was a one off against a high profile opponent, it’s doubtful if they would attract those crowd figures to regular second tier games.
However, I hope you’re right and I’m wrong because I too want the Championship to succeed but it has to be run on a sound footing.

South Hobart and now Kingsway yet we can’t find more teams

You know why Kingsway submitted a bid?

Massive injection of $$$ past couple of years out of nowhere. Similar to Preston, toying away in lower leagues for years and suddenly they get cash and they are up and about.

They lucky to have 100 people on any given Saturday.

Better of starting a new club, and building connections with local community.

Absolute guess, back of napkin stuff... Its NOT just a one off though, on the broadcast they mentioned that last year they got approx 2k against Adelaide United this year that grew to 3k against Victory.... ITS a start mate... all some of these rusted on fans need is a meaningful game to get behind....

This is what I don't get.

Clubs in the Aleague have crowds of say 4k, and its "dire".

There will be clubs in the NSD, such as Avondale who will be lucky to get a couple hundred.

Lets actually have self-sustainable clubs, rather than focus on crowds.

wow looked like a lot of club merch on the broadcast and the kiddies streamed onto the field at final whistle???

but if Avondale can self sustain with crowds of 200 what does it matter?
