The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

I wonder if there's space somewhere for us to make an "important football documents repository" 😄
Can tell you that there’s been quite a few collated and sent to Yoogali over the weekend - mostly previous announcements of clubs being excluded or removed from the ACT Premier League

One thing that has me confused about the process is how do clubs not know what the financial criteria is

If you are submitting an rfp, surely you know ahead of submitting it whether you meet the financial criteria and wouldn't bother submitting a non-compliant bid. Unless there is no clarity on the financial criteria and the clubs don't know if they comply, perhaps because it is the will of a consulting firm rather than set criteria?
This is EXACTLY the point my tired old brain gets stuck on on...

stay tuned will see if anyone will go on the record
Sadly I suspect it will be down to my club AGAIN to bite the bullet and make an announcement (They bloody better if they know whats good for them).

How the FA can have the balls to come out with bullshit statement that 8 EXISTING clubs (with current paid squads) NOT being able to meet the financial criteria to compete in a glorified national competition YET Western United can compete in the A League despite not paying their players for months at a time? -- HTF do these clubs ALREADY compete in the Australia cup if they DON'T meet the financial criteria to exist as clubs? Someone is lying to our faces.

A quick explanation will suffice

Let's be honest - the entire process was a farce from the beginning, the competition format was the cherry on the top.

As it stands, we do not have the $$$ for a second tier at this stage.

FA needs to bite the bullet and just let some of the NPL teams in the A-league. Make it a 20 team league.

3 ways to attack this IMO.

1. Have new clubs from regions such as Cairns, Townsiville, Tasmania etc. provided they have the cash.
2. New clubs from cities like Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide which could potentially create rivalries. But need to start of with a bang similiar to Auckland, not this Western United crap.
3. Let in a few teams from NSW/Victoria NPL, but from what I see the NSW NPL is struggling.

Good ideas but Cairns, Townsville no thanks. Been tried in Townsville anlready and these places are rugba leeg hotspots. Tassie would also struggle with the economy there and the population exodus from the state to the mainland. Brisbane are struggling to get 7K at Suncorp, as are Perth at HBF, how can another team work there? Another Adelaide team could work maybe? Do NPL teams have the cash? Which teams are the richest in the NSW/Vic NPLs?

Guys, guys ... if clubs from these regions "had the cash" we would have a full second division by now.... as for "new entities"? Surely your both joking right?

Thats another thing I can't quite wrap my head around. How can the FA have the cash to fly state league clubs around the country for the Australia Cup, even to organise a 16 club end of season trip flying NPL clubs that dont have 3 dollars to rub together and yet deny ambitious clubs the chance to compete all because they dont have a spare 500k lying around?

I mean South Hobart are going to play in this years Championship yet somehow (despite bidding 3 times) their bid team didn't realise they dont have the financials in order??? Something is extremely fishy here....

If the FA announces a women's Australia Cup starting next year I sincerely don't know how Im gonna contain my fury.

That really hasn't gone down very well in the past mate...

No other alternate options.

Current NPL clubs struggle to stump up 500k as is.

Ok. So if no clubs “have the cash” what’s the solution then?
Have a barebones requirement of entry, EVERY club (mine included) needs to win their respective NPLs to be promoted to the Championship, Bottom of the table gets relegated back into their respective NPL ... costs have been modelled ad nauseam by AAFC, all it takes is 1-2 mill for travel all else stays EXACTLY as it is in NPL land.... cream rises, shit sinks... the pyramid gets stronger.. clubs get stronger.... its NOT rocket science....

Its just APL protectionism that doesnt want it to start ..... no other reason I can see... Please if Im wrong, let me know. AND Don't say no cash because Nunawading just played a match in Darwin and the FA is going to fly the winner of WA NPL around the country in a couple of months ffs.
