Very frustrating. But if it means 8 teams and two cities next year and let's sit on our hands for another decade versus 12-14 teams and a wider geographic spread I know what I would pick.

Because if we go with 8 teams we will stay at 8 teams for the foreseeable future.

TBH I think we need to also establish a semi-pro league (conference style) at the same time and have a time table for clubs below to be able to win promotion.

If it was going ahead next year we would have known months ago.

I''d expect the end of year version to be a one off.

How atleast one team from queensland cant meet the criteria remains dumbfounding.. same with SA to get us to 10... then just start with any 2 more that come closest to meeting the criteria (legitimately close though not wishful thinking close) and 2 more the year later. ... since when did it have be more compliacted than that FFS?

just need to ask the clubs "what criteria can you meet"?

South Hobart, even. How could they be told that they don't meet the financials? What else is there to pay for? Flights and accommodation are taken care of by FA. Players and staff are meant to be full-time professional, but I thought Galatas said even that isn't the case. So what other financials?? This is the same South Hobart that was in charge of the former "cashed-up A-League bid" that was gazumped by the Foxtel clubs.

When I wrote that I said that was the last I heard. I am retired now and don't have the same sources that I once had. South Hobart may well pass now - they had already passed the technical constraints. The FA probably didn't look at the financial constraints if a club couldn't pass the technical constraints.

TBH the lighting from the South Hobart v South Melbourne game was line-ball or that may have been the quality of the cameras.
