Japan has reasonable chance. They have the depth and football nous. They just need to get a decent pathway in the knockout rounds to go very deep in a World Cup. Whether that is 2026 is up to the draw. The difference is that there are more quality teams in Europe and South America than the other confederations so the odds favour a quality team from those confederations.

not until the club world cup becomes regular and more prestigious than the uefa champions league.

It gives other countries a chance to develop a league as good as the top ones in europe
 


Look who the ref is. No wonder he blew against Viduka against Brazil when he gave a penalty like that.

The angles can really deceive once the camera turns but Dempsey seems miles offside for the goal. We didn't care back then and just took it at face value.

Did a frame by frame - looks like Dempsey is behind the ball, so no offside.

How right you are. I've paused it while the ball is still in the other green bit and the ball is behind the defensive line but he's behind the ball.
 
I always look back at random WC games and where I watched them and what the circumstances were. 2014 I missed a number due to time difference but I was given a comprehensive book with each game for Christmas from German Kicker.

2018 I remember missing Iran Morocco due to a workshop but we then went out and watched Portugal Spain in an epic and we knew the tournament had arrived. Sat painfully through Uruguay Egypt.

The hype after Mexico South Africa was met with drunken walking in and out of the pub wondering if France or Uruguay had done anything that game.

I have all the SBS coverage of the 2014 World Cup on my hard drive - If I ever get round to setting up like some sort of 24/7 channel thing based off my hard drive, it's definitely going in there. Shame can't do it the same way anymore for a World Cup.

They sure Souttar will fit within the scan range?

Seen a lot of tight offsides later where it really should be play on.
 
Great, now someone's fingernail can be more accurately represented when the player is shown to be offside by half of one.

Hahahaha If I was a striker or winger I would rock up to the scanning with a couple of pillows under my jersey, a massive prosthetic nose, some shoulder pads etc...... let them scan away and let me gain a few inches once the gear comes off... lol
