we went through a real dark age in player development for the roos and a big reason why we seem to be emerging seems to be that we are playing and selling youth domestically
I guess it means that under a closed shop we have a tradeoff between the success of the a league and the success of the roos. The better one days the worse the other, because as soon as financial pressure on the league is relieved they stop playing kids (or at least play them less often).
I guess the magic sauce of p&r is it keeps the financial pressure on teams even when the league improves?
