The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

What's wrong with the groups? Looks no better or worse than any random selection that has 2 f8 clubs in each group and 2 qualified clubs?
 
I did something similar to this last year, trying to make the draw fair and logical, not made up for any rivalries or TV.

All eight premiers in the top two spots of each group (in bold). One Victorian team per group, two groups will need NSW doubled up.

That really narrows it down to a few options. Only the Vic and NSW premiers have slots for the double NSW teams, so they both get the worst NSW teams. Then the QLD and SA groups get the best of NSW and Vic after the premiers.

Same if we are gonna travel to Sydney at least make it Marconi or Edensor.

And Adelaide Juve? NOT putting them with us is the dumbest scheduling decision ever, that would sell out both sides of the border.

Agree, but I reckon a Marconi v Sydney united derby on the national stage would be good. If weather plays ball you could get 5,000+

South Melbourne, Sydney United, Adelaide City and Wollongong would be a good mix in a group. South can really market those matches.
 
I guess from my perspective, i don't mind the groups?

I'd like a good mixture of atleast 1 Melbourne club in our group and 1 Sydney club and 1 Adelaide/brisbane.

If my teams group was

Avondale/south melb/Preston
Sydney Olympic/ Sydney united
Adelaide city/Lions

I'd be very happy with that.

Have you heard anything about what the club is planning for the Championship, in terms of community engagement, advertising the games etc?

I'm sure the local MP will love to get out and spruik how the new pavilion is perfect for these games.

Id be there from Wednesday.... The Adelaide Hellas fanclub would help us pack out our end of the ground, I reckon you'd get a pretty decent crowd... And the reverse at Lakeside would have every Italian in Melbourne raid their closet for Juve gear.

Against Oakleigh it will 150 of us and 6 from Oakleigh... zzzzzzzzz and thats at Lakeside, at Oakleigh it will be just 6.

What’s their current situation crowd wise? Have they just given up on their own club and become a chapter of South Melbournes support. All due respect ofcourse. Genuine question

Oi, we/APIA haven't played down there since 1991–92 season against Victorian sides such as SMH and Melbourne Croatia.
Least your/might be playing NSW NPL current Champions :)
Mind you I'd prefer seeing you guys other side of the draw meet in Finale :)
