Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Depending on Prestons tribunal hearing tonight they could end up playing a reserves team on Sunday.
Shit I had forgot about that.... It could go either way, lose enough points and they may HAVE to field a strong squad on Sunday to avoid relegation.

No chance Football Victoria sends them down, it would be a marketing nightmare to FA.

Now that Preston has been deducted 3 points, they are now forced a field a much stronger line up on Sunday against Dandenong Thunder. Both teams wont be able to rest enough players.

Interesting to see how this plays out.

Gotta say...hand on heart not the other thing....I would clap and cheer very loudly if SM came to the A-league...

Further and listen or sorry read this is the way we introduce promotion and regulation...

How well it's becomes promotion until we reach 24 teams. BUT, BUT, we copy the Japanese system and how they did it.

In simple terms you kept expanding until you get to 24 teams then create a Div 1 say 16 teams Div 2 then has 8 teams.

Kept expanding each year tave traditional P n R but as you add teams to Div 2 that new number increases the number up and down.

Best of luck to SM, if it happens a couple of the SM fans can share some Coastie experiences

I cannot overstate how important next week's quarter final is for the club. For the first time we have a genuine path to reach the Australia Cup Grand Final. I don't care if we drop points against Melbourne City Youth. The priority is hosting a home semi final in the Australia Cup. That will be a massive financial windfall for the club. A crowd pushing 5,000 is possible given the significance of the occasion. And you can do the financial sums of that revenue that would be generated.

Further to that a chance to host the final as well.

I'd gladly miss the top 6 if it meant hosting an Australia cup final.

I owe you a few beers one day for putting up with me. hahahahaha

Maybe so, but it would definitely be more entertaining seeing south in the a league compared to western united. Hoping it happens just to shake things up abit.
Ofcourse it would we are SMFC..
Problem is do we do them a favour and grace them with our presennce and prop up their league or do we send out B Squad and focus on the real comps!

Tell me oaks what happens in this instance bc i expect all u back if south makes it.... no excuses!

Even if they came back to South it doesnt really disrupt the winter npl season much.

In general the appetitite from the wider Greek community to watch South in summer is pretty big. Was speaking to someone the other day and when i asked if he would watch South in the A league the answer was "what else am i gonna do in summer"...hes an assistant coach at a current vpl1 club.

Well i guess it depends on your clubs ego. They claim to be this big club with rich history and all that, big clubs play in the big leagues, not 2nd divisions.

A league is not what it used to be though and seems to be a sinking ship, could a team like south help turn the tide?

I think it would be in souths best interests to gain entry into the a league. I think it's likely a league will become big again at some point in future. I think it's just going through a slump right now, every league goes through it, even the afl.

Yeah this new championship season they've created recently is cool and all that, but im predicting interest will be lost and eventually scrapped.

Go hard at the Australia cup, try make the final, pray its up against Melbourne victory. I'm sure that'll turn some heads.

Oh for sure, id expect heaps of greeks to become casual south supporters in the a league, well ones that are 40+ atleast. Can you attract the younger generation though over Melbourne victory and city?
