NPL 2026

If Zoran Markovski wants to call Preston a powerhouse in Australian football, then he’ll need to win more silverware.

What Preston administration has done over the last 5-7 years is to be commended and acknowledged. They’ve brought their club back from State League 2, which was the 3rd tier of Victorian football at the time. They are seeing big crowds, and now the biggest match in Victoria is South vs Preston.

Hopefully South can be back in 2027 to win another Dockerty Cup.
Credit to them for winning it but end of day they played the most uninspired and out of form team in the top half of NPL Vic... to make 'powerhouse' 'biggest club' etc comments is on par with bergers tagline of 'best team outside the AL' (hahaha) ... lets have this convo when its more than 1 every 30 years!!

i just checked via DRIBL thru NPL NSW.

both APIA Leichhardt Tigers and Sydney United both play next Saturday before one of them has quarter final against Melbourne Victory at Leichhardt Oval or Sydney United Sports Centre which will very likely set to be midweek either Tuesday August 18 or Wednesday August 19 due to fact Sydney United v APIA Leichhardt Tigers on Sunday August 23 at Sydney United Sports Centre.

Relegated into administration, 10 years away from top flight. First trophy in 34 years? Wouldn't call that a powerhouse of Australia football.

Definitely a modern powerhouse in the Victorian Footballing circles, especially with the support it attracts.
The flag wasn’t enough, now they wanna claim that Greek egotism too?
Come back in a decade with at least three more trophies and an Australian Championship and then that claim will hold more weight…

You know you're success starved when you celebrate a dockerty cup like a national title. I'd hand in 5 of ours just to win 1 of the 3 npl grand finals we choked in!
Sure, but I think it’s probably a lot of the fact they went from being nearly gone, to years of climbing back and it’s the first big reward.

I’ll take the draw !
Happy SU into 2nd and Marconi 3rd.
Hope it finishes as such.
Manly coming into the mix.

Neil Kilkenny has been given the head coaching job at Olympic Kingsway and will be at the helm of the side from NPL Western Australia season 2027 onwards, with interim head coach Richard Garcia continuing to take charge for the remainder of season 2026.

Lucky Marconi has a 12 point gap over Sutherland in 4th and will keep 3rd otherwise they drop even more positions. 4 losses in a row is disgraceful and knowing Marconi they'd sack the coaches if they weren't already leaving. Very unprofessional from the players.

i'm hearing the board wants the coaches gone because of the coaching announcement so close to the end of the season. The budget cuts are happening, and 6-8 players will be gone as they will be going for a more youthful approach.
