No excuses at all my friend, despite a lot of AU fan's crying on socials the result last night was fair (in terms of scoreline and souths winning)

I'm just trying to bring some balance to the discussion in terms of how they've designed the cup, to try and make it a fair playing field in terms of semi pro & pro clubs in and out of season.

AU are probably the most advanced a league club this preseason, being their 3rd match in 3.5 weeks and soon to be an ACL match. But that doesn't necessarily mean they are 'fit' individually or collectively as a group in terms of 'match fitness'.

It still takes time to develop both of these, even if you have professional coaches, trainers etc working with you day in day out.

I watched most of the game last night, Roars striker Vidic or however u spell it missed two easy taps ins and hit the cross bar another time, not really good enough if u ask me. I thought at that time the game would go to pen but Roar cum good and dicked it 3-0. I know it’s still pre season but Roar really need to put away those shots handed on a platter. Can Roar beat SFC? Well I hope so but going from last night games I give them %10 chance.

tend to agree with you RIMB.
I watched it, it actually looked like SO were better on the ball but lacked end product.
Your young fellas kept running as you expect, some not bad attacks and shots that went straight to SO's GK many times and then some sitters went to the grandstands.
In the end SO's defense was very ordinary - hence the goals taken and rightly.
SO had their chances that could have changed the game through periods but this all showed where they are currently in the season battling relo.
I had minor hope they put it together for they had it all in their favour.

Interesting how differently people see games, especially some of the negative comments I've seen on social media.

I thought we were pretty decent on what was a really poor pitch. That surprised me given the quality of the NRL training pitches we've seen around South East Queensland.

Sydney Olympic had their moments, as any side will over the course of a game, but for the majority of the match I thought we were always comfortable. We controlled possession and the tempo, and created the better chances. How Vidić missed that volley from six yards, I'll never know – some ball in.

With better finishing, it could easily have been 5 or 6. Instead, it was a solid, professional performance.

There's obviously still room for improvement, particularly with combinations as the squad continues to gel. But considering it was only the third game of the season, I don't have too many complaints.

Belmore has been under construction for years, pitch neglected, has NRL games played on it amongst other commitments.

From my perspective - a very fresh SO line up (lots of recent window additions) still working on cohesion and 3/4 in season (meaning legs/energy used far more) and didn't press as great and play ball back alot (some hoofball) whereas a young fresh hungry Roar side hence winning alot of loose ball mid pitch but breaking down alot and missing correct, many chances.
Against a better NPL side would have been cooked/exposed.

more like young trained pros finding their place in a testing fixture - the lack of finishing says as much and the opponent was lacking to be any better.

Olympic didn't too do badly for a majority of the match. Certainly started off well enough but fell away in the second half.

Again, also unfortunate because belmore used to be better than what it is now. Used to feel more like a neutral suburban venue akin to Leichhardt oval. Now it’s fully been colonised by the bulldogs nrl team

The thing is they don't even own the ground. It belongs to Canterbury Bankstown council and always has been. This is what I mean when I say you have to suck up to all levels of government to stake a long term claim as a tenant to any venue.
