What is the deal with the Spanish flag in the second video? I assume some sort of link to Lopez and Spain winning World Cup?Debut goal... not a bad way to go about it.
Yeah thats what I assumed last night...What is the deal with the Spanish flag in the second video? I assume some sort of link to Lopez and Spain winning World Cup?
There is some sort of freebie concert at Leichhardt on the 19th September as a "farewell" type thing.i thought that was for the Tigers in the NRL.
i could have sworn i heard Leichhardt oval is off limits for APIA now? maybe i am wrong.
4 NPL clubs knock out AL opposition in the round of the 32, setting a new record
Would have been unheard of only 5-10 years ago.
Probably depends on how it actually happened. Was the A-League or local team a continuation of the old club? Or was it a split, with both clubs able to claim the past? Or something else?Won't happen unless it's the final.
Some Roar fans claim the club's history stretches back to the Queensland Lions because the Lions won the A-League licence. The club has occasionally leaned into that connection too, such as using the 1957 establishment date on jerseys etc.
Load of crap in my opinion, acknowledging the origins is one thing, but claiming the entire pre-2005 history as Roar's own is a stretch.
Was meant to be a continuation. Lions didn’t play in the BPL (old NPL) for a couple of years as they were in the aleague. But we changed some of the primary colours, name, stadium then eventually training base.Probably depends on how it actually happened. Was the A-League or local team a continuation of the old club? Would it be similar to some Championship teams that have created separate entities for that tournament?
Hmmm... just going by that I'd say that Roar does share that history, but I'll have to read into it more. Was meant to be a continuation. Didn’t take long until they spilt into two at senior level. Season 2 or so from memory.
Given lions still ran as a club in its own right during this time I wouldn’t claim that history as ours.
sorry fellas, been out hitting that little white pill. There is some sort of freebie concert at Leichhardt on the 19th September as a "farewell" type thing.

And APIA played there last AusCup match there recently.
That was being discussed last night in the South social club during the live draw. It was good to see that 4 A League teams are playing against each other in the Round of 16.4 NPL clubs knock out AL opposition in the round of the 32, setting a new record

Fre”O done dirty in the draw, I believe they will dick Sth Melb 5-1.That was being discussed last night in the South social club during the live draw. It was good to see that 4 A League teams are playing against each other in the Round of 16.
Just shows you that the NPL clubs are really looking to improve, and the money flowing around the NPL competitions is extraordinary. And that is against the backdrop of an A League that is cutting back spending focusing on younger players. The days of the expensive international marquee players is over.
Pretty much all the Victorian clubs are on one side of the draw and the other side is full of NSW teams.Im just fucken bored of it. We will play each other minimum 4 times now this year.
We enter this competition to play the best sides around Australia, not in NSW.
It was a draw to save travel costs![]()
Back off! I saw your lot getting well and truly managed in that documentary The Man From Snowy River years ago.“Roar” has to be the worst/most embarrassing club name in world football
yer all power to you guys, quite an advantage as we all know being home, pressure is on.Pretty much all the Victorian clubs are on one side of the draw and the other side is full of NSW teams.
From a selfish perspective, I'm just glad that South doesn't have to travel interstate for the remainder of the Australia Cup.
Roar reckon they will have information out in the next 24 hrs. Would assume that’s consistent with the other clubs.!Have they said when venues and dates will be announced
