FIFA 2026 WC - general

European nations will discuss potentially boycotting the World Cup if Gianni Infantino pushes ahead with plans to sell off part of FIFA to private investors.

UEFA are just the lesser evil. All they'd they'd want to achieve is dominance and boss every other region around. FIFA are shit but I don't think UEFA would relinquish the power if they were to establish a new international association.

It's not much difference to The Gulf power imbalance of the AFC.

FIFA is technically a not for profit under Swiss law. All 211 voting members "own" FIFA. The great contradiction in that is that it owns the planet's most profitable broadcasting rights.

Infantino is sailing close to the wind but I don't see another 2015 very soon. He has had 10 years to ensconce himself. He lives in Ryadh and FIFA's operations have all moved to Saudi. In 2015 the FBI was willing to investigate but now the US administration, the Saudi's and FIFA are a cosy cabal of demagogues, gangsters and grifters. There's fat chance of any investigation.

The only hope is that member nations move. But too many of them are at the trough.

The World Cup was a beta test run for how shit football is going to be in the future.

It will be americanised and destroyed, it's been coming.

Nobody will boycott. They will get a cut and all be in on it. The only thing that will make change is a fan boycott. This will not come from subservient countries, looking at the Germans, French etc to being something.

Ive been saying it for months now... Wait till the hydration breaks hit the EPL and Champions league in a few seasons...

Its not so much the WC Im worried about, that has been a money whoring exercise for a few decades now and always thought it would go in this sort of direction. Its CLUB football that is going to follow which means ALL of football marching to the same money grubbing beat... SO much for the game with two jumpers and ball eh?
