Summer of Cricket thread

The Test team is out for Bangladesh.

I think we need more young players to be blooded. Conversely, with the Socceroos, the coach, Popovic, has tried heaps of young players.

What does Corey Roccicioli have to do to get into a squad? He has taken most Shield wickets for a spinner for the last 2 seasons.

They have both all rounders, Green and Webster.

A few mates are travelling up to Mackay and Darwin for the Bangladesh tests. I reneged. I couldn't hack the heat!

His bowling stats are moderate but with the willow in hand he was without peer, with only South African Jacques Kallis @55.4 coming close. But his bowling stats were lower than Sobers. Toss up for me as to the all time supreme all rounder.

Australia squad for Bangladesh Tests: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherald, Beau Webster.

No surprises. There is also a CAX1 warm up game with some of our best young next genners featured. Team yet to be finalised.

Selection chairman George Bailey has Australia scanning every possible angle to set up its next gen Test men. One thing being considered is to move a few players into first-class cricket such as putting them with Australia A in India, which is set to play two four-day contests versus India A in Puducherry in September. Australia’s hope is that giving younger players more, earlier India opportunities now will translate into better performances later, when the Border-Gavaskar Trophy comes back to Indian soil in 2027.
