2026 Australia Cup final rounds thread

Lions about to knock off Glory on penalties!
Lions FC got the job done 4-2 on penalties over Perth Glory in their Hahn Australia Cup round of 32 game to record their first ever cupset and second of this matchday, also advancing to the round of 16.

Only 8 A league clubs left already. Sydney United a good chance v central coast tomorrow you’d imagine. I’m shit at maths but with the New Zealand clubs no longer being eligible for the comp you’d imagine this edition would be most likely yet to end up with an non A league club making the final, potentially even all non A league final

Two cupsets in one night is wild! Wonder if we’ll see any more tonight!

Great to see the young Sydney boys shining too!!!

The Sydney kids have been good in the NPL this season, currently sitting 6th, their highest ever finish, so far.

So this result wasn't a surprise tbh.

Ever since the A League season has ended they've been able to get a couple of the boys into the NPL team and vice versa. Kisnorbo is big on playing youth as well.

Amazing what match fitness can do.

Sydney FC however were looking sharp and they had played a practice match against NSW Spirit previously.

Same happened in the AClL MV's best chance was always the early games against the japanese sides as they were out of season.

100% there is no surprises when it comes the NPL clubs knocking off A-League clubs early on in this competition. The A-league is becoming a glorified youth league.
