What ? Did you not hear the man's brilliant idea. He said they'd already qualified for the next one after this match. Playing a "qualifying' match is the very idea of redundancy.

Even if they qualify automatically they would still play a qualifying campaign which would essentially serve the same purpose as pre-tournament friendlies.
 
Four changes for France at the half. Lucas Digne, Dayot Upamecano, Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola come on for Theo Hernandez, Ibrahima Konate, Rayan Cherki and Desire Doue respectively.

I don't think it has ever happened that a host or pre qualified nation has taken part in the qualification match stage.

Qatar took part in World Cup qualifiers for the 2022 cycle but having said that the first two rounds also doubled as qualifying for the 2023 Asian Cup.
