NPL 2026

new confirmed kickoff time for South Melbourne v Preston Lions is Saturday July 18th 3.15pm at Lakeside Stadium moved a full 24 hours earlier due to Preston Lions round of 32 Australia Cup fixture three days later at BT Connor Reserve on Tuesday July 21st.
Saturday 3.15pm is not an ideal kick off time. A 7.30pm Saturday kick off would have been great to maximise crowds. But FV are against night matches for these types of fixtures. We have played about 5 times over the last 3 years and nothing has happened.

If Nepo leads the starting XI something WILL happen ... just not against the Preston fans.

I think FV stepped in. They would want best possible outcome for Vic clubs in Aus Cup. South might require similar assistnce in the future..
I agree its the smart play but doubt Football VIC would ever help us, this OFC tournament proved it. At least it buys some good will with our fellow clubs, Id rather be a good neighbour than an Oakleigh.

More than 300. You will see on the day and compare it to last years game.
I saw on Sunday how many compared to last years matches mate... I agree with you that Saturday 3pm is the absolute shittest time in Melbourne soccer but we have worse problems to worry about... Getting a bumper crowd to Lakeside to watch them beat us at home for the first time in 40 years is NOT even on the first page of our "to do" list...

Not that its saying much but i think our crowds apart from those 2 Monday night games have been bigger this season. But last years Preston game was huge and you wont get that on a Saturday arvo.
