Big Ange thread

Ange needs to go to somewhere a bit out of the spotlight. Somewhere that has a good back room structure that will allow him to work on his process. We know his system can take time to develop and eventuate, and that's what he needs. Time and space to implement his vision and his goals. Put into place his work and what he needs to do.
Portland Timbers just gave their head coach Phil Neville the sack so if Ange wants to try his hand at coaching in the MLS he could very well do so.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of your points but I think there is proof that teams can 100% win the Championship by playing attack minded non-grinding it out football.

In recent years there has been Biesla with Leeds, Maresca with Leicester, Kompany at Burnley, that German bloke that I can't remember his name with Norwich - the grind is the fact there are so many games and so many competitive teams right the way through the table.

I can admit I have obvious bias but I don't think anyone can say that Ange's football won't work in a particular league. At the end of the day the game is played with a ball and two goals no matter which division you're in.

I said....

Although Ange has shown adaptability across leagues (Australia → Japan → Scotland → England) and won titles almost everywhere he's gone. So, he could do it but the question is whether he'd want to do it....

I like Big Ange as a person and certainly rate his footballing idealiasm. But I just don't see him as a second tier manager at this point of his career....

And I don't think he would see himself as one either.

Totally agree....

Japan is an ideal next destination for Ange. He thrived at Yokohama F. Marinos, winning the 2019 J1 League with his high-intensity style. Familiar culture, technical football environment, and lower pressure make it perfect for rebuilding confidence after turbulent Spurs and Forest spells. A natural homecoming for the Big Fella!!!

Postecoglou tipped to return to Scotland.

Would be interesting for him to take over Scotland. There is a lot of pressure in that role, but you'd think the Scots would want to change their football style after what we saw in the world cup

massive double edged sword though, when isn't it with Ange and the high stakes of todays game.
The patience of changing their style game to game - get 1 2 friendly loss's you know how they react.
I'd be rapted he got this but I'd have a lot of worries - patience of the rebuild ? the media would be all over him from the start.

I've been of the belief for a while that Ange is the Aussie Bielsa. It reminds me of Bielsa's stint at Leeds as successful as that was.

I would say that Ange's influence on Australian football is similar to Bielsa's with Chile but not a 1:1.

The biggest lesson Ange has taught Australian football is that with enough tenacity, anyone from Australia can make it at the highest levels of the game, even if it is against the odds.

From a playing style perspective, we have moved away from the way Ange had set us up to play from 2014 onwards.
