We also need a strategy to press their build up and force mistakes. It seems one of their preferred midfielders is suspended so they'll be rotating too. I think we should start Devlin to track them for ages.

Much as I like Devlin, he hasn't been part of the current campaign. I'd start with Okon-E and O'Neill.

I know he'd be completely fresh. I think the game will be very intense and we need to keep the tempo. This long break is helpful.
 
So apparently Salah requested to come off and will have a scan. He's going to play.
 
If it was Iran it would have been our biggest game since Uruguay 2005, the build up with have been huge but Egypt will still be a tough game for us especially with Salah and Marmoush up front.

I recall when we played Egypt in the Olympics in Tokyo and we needed to get a draw but they beat us so they won't be scared of us but we can go through I can see this maybe going into extra time or even penalties because it won't be a free flowing game.

New Zealand along with Iran has given us a blueprint in how to beat them, New Zealand play better football than us though even though they cant defend they cut through Egypt at times not sure if we do the same but at least there is a recipe for us.

And yet, since going to Asia, my count is that we've played Japan a whopping 13 times in competitive games (WCQ, Asian Cup, World Cup finals)

What is it with everyone thinking this wasn't offside when it was... it was tight - but it was.
 
You can pick one GG player for this game. Who is it? Given the injuries I'd say Emerton. Would love an Aloisi type up front. Toure will be starting this one.

6 days and their biggest name is in that state. They'll do everything to get him to play. He missed 2 games in 2018 due to injury. He himself would be desperate to play but does he want to risk being an invalid and his career ending?
 
Egypt are undefeated but the typical game 1 Belgium, being vulnerable against NZ and Iran gives me a lot of hope. How much energy have they exerted so far?

We're in excellent shape with only O'Neill being close to being spent. Circati has done a lot of running. Irvine being delayed into the tournament is a real bonus. Bos has a tank and is now picking up.
