FIFA 2026 WC - general

Thanks to DoorDash tagging him, T-Pain has apparently discovered Tim Payne. Little do they know I’ve been making that joke BEFORE he got famous!

Now that Canada is playing in the USA rather than Canada, I wonder if there is a mechanism for Canada's fans to more easily obtain tickets for their Los Angeles clash.

Can they swap ticket's with those who purchased LA ticket's?
Have ticket's been put aside for Canadian citizens in case of this scenario?

Tunisia with a woeful world cup. Well done to Haiti for having a go in all 3 games. Dream goals they'll never forget.

The football fests are really taking over and there are some great scenes. Germany and Ecuador at times square having a great time. The media and politics are losing once people start hanging out.

Hard to describe how awesome Mexico is at the moment.

A cata y party ever might
100s thousands in the street
People inviting us to parties, for food.to visit places

Walking to the main square there is something happening on every corner.

People just chant for you in restaurants. Everyone has football shirts on and the games are on in every single bar, restaurant and shop. And street screenings everywhere

And to top it off, I had to turn off the dating apps because it’s impossible to respond to the number of birds you get coming in for you 🤣

The people here are just so welcoming and awesome.

The pitches can take it but some grounds have had a quick succession of games such as Boston or Houston while Miami is really spread out and off the radar. Kansas City too.

Chicago was stupid to say they couldn't afford it. I know there are rules about game quantity and city limitations but Minnesota Indianapolis have excellent indoor stadiums.

Our extended break is a massive bonus while other teams have to play again much earlier. I saw a proposal that the round of 32 could be done via a draw with a few formulas to create pots but that only delays things for teams and fans.

Some fans have 3 potential destinations now anyway. I don't get why we're on Friday and Germany play Monday. Massive difference.

It's too generous to the AFC and UEFA. One more for Africa and South America would probably be right.

@Nic, you said you didn't like the UEFA playoffs. Do you mean there should be groups with top 2 qualifying? It may be time to cut the minnows out to get rid of a matchday or two.

Iceland advanced from pot 6 or 7 decades ago but otherwise few have.

The expanded tournament is mixed for me

Yes it's good having more games and giving more countries a go but the Rd three games have been dull af

Yes, that's the way I would do it - just 8 groups, top 2 through. Will be 14 matchdays total, and no need for playoffs.

The other option, is the Asian route, with two group stages - one to cut out the minnows (but still give them that game time to sneak through), and then maybe just 8 groups of 4, with the top 2 going through. (I haven't worked out maths on how that would work tbh yet, but just an idea)

One of the many advantages of marrying into an Italian family is the opportunity to learn new football language.

The word of all of these last group games is "biscotto", it's so blatant is farcical.

And yes, that includes the Australia game.

I still think it's an Argentina vs France or England final
England will be on the same side of the draw as Argentina if they win their group, so would be England v Argentina in the quarters.

Otherwise, if they come second in the group (as France and Argentina already confirmed on top of their respective groups), it will be a France v England quarter final on the other side of the draw
