NPL 2026

Never has and never will be unity between Greek clubs. Some put on a fake act but all are out for themselves.

The only thing we do know is that 99% of them use to suck up to South in the nsl days. South would accomodate them with gala days and senior friendly matches, then when the nsl ended some became a bunch of ungrateful pricks. Especially the ones in the south/south east.

The Greek power base was at its strongest when South was at the top. Instead of helping consolidate that they all went into business for themselves.

You guys made the decision to distinguish between north and south or do you have a short memory?? we were always the club of all Greeks and it showed or would you like to dispute that as fact??

Perhaps you should be more focused on demanding caps on the preston floriniotes that want to attend saturdays game? What happened the exorbitant junior fees not enough to pay for security? Obviously they not enough to finish thw wooden hut wasting in the rain!! Maybe a promise in next elections will allow its completion?
 
Being successful and trying to win games is fine. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, its competition after all. How certain clubs conduct themselves matters though. Oakleigh for me are not a good club and have tried to make life difficult for South for 20 years, from unethical ways of trying to poach players to using its power within the federation to gain an advantage.

I spoke previously about the pecking order, St Albans and Nth Geelong will of course try and beat the Knights, but they respect the order of the cro community where knights sit at the top. Preston likewise, altona, lalor sloga. Sydenham etc dont go out of their way to disrupt the order.

But no us Greeks know better, we wanna piss away decades of top flight hellas excellence so some suburban wankers who once had corporate boxes at lakeside in the 90s can sit at eaton mall and legitimately want to be bigger than South, really?

It goes South, daylight, then heidelberg and then daylight to everyone else.

Spare me this new found lovefest between oakleigh and heidelberg. When heidelberg dropped out of the nsl in 1995 Oakleigh despised them, bentleigh despised them, they were running around like miniture hellas clubs thinking they were doing our bidding. It was so pathetic i actually preffered Heidelberg beat them. It was a sign of what was to come and i knew things would be x1000 worse if South went down and i was proven correct, because our community is a joke.

Its not all bad, the hellas spirit does this still live on at certain clubs, and South has competed and been defeated by some of them, thats fair. For many others all i can say is xalia.

I think it's fair to say we all view south as the biggest greek club in Australia. I personally don't see anything wrong with trying to get a competitive one up on south? Of course Oakleigh would love to be the bigger club, it will never happen but aren't we allowed to try make ourselves bigger?

And why do we have to have a pecking order? Okay you're the bigger club, but we're in the same competition, so why can't we recruit players off your team or do our best to beat south whenever possible? We respect south, but were not going to bend to their wishes or play nice with them, they are an opponent just as much as any other club.

I don't think we have a love fest for Heidelberg, they are an opponent just as much as south is, it's just that we seriously dislike preston, so really any greek team who plays them and wins, including south, we will be cheering and jumping for joy because to our childish minds it's like a victory for all greeks.
 
Look at the 2 grand finals south played against oakleigh. What should have been a magical spectacle for the Greek community drawing at least 7k at lakeside we instead had to be subjected to oakleighs nonsense where on the first one we couldnt find a venue until a weel before the game because Oakleigh wanted it initially to be played at a fkn park in caroline springs (no offence george cross) and then we end up playing the 2nd one in fkn Bundoora.

Meanwhile ALL of us had to sit back and watch the incredible spectactle that was the heidelberg v dandenong city grand final at lakeside last yr.

What should have been a friendly spectacle of a Greek derby that maximises interest and brings the Greek community from all corners back to the city we had to cop bullshit instead.
