This is what I say after every competitive match Popa’s ever managedYeah wtf do I know haha.
Maybe it's Okon.
Alessandro Circati definitely and both Nestory Irankunda and Mo Toure will continue to be making waves, as will Patrick Beach. We also won’t know who might emerge in the next four years. There’s very few debutants in this World Cup that I would have had earmarked in 2022. Maybe Circati and probably Volpato?
You weren't on your pat Malone there Quickly.Yeah wtf do I know haha.
Who is Nicoll-Jazuli? have you seen him play?It might be two different Okons!
By the next World Cup Gianluca will be 21, and if he continues his current trajectory and opts for Australia he could well be starting for us. Nicoll-Jazuli will be 20 as well and might be worth a look.
Throw in Robertson, and I haven’t been this excited about our youth prospects in my whole life of properly watching Australian football.

I wanted Robertson in the squad, but Poppa has gone a very different direction.Alex Robertson has a different skillset and strengths to Paul Okon-Engstler though and what worked against Turkey might not work against the United States, Paraguay or our knockout stage opponents.
Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli is the promising Australian dual international youth prospect who plys his trade in the Chelsea farm system.Who is Nicoll-Jazuli? have you seen him play?

People won't admit this but plenty of a-league clubs could learn from the Melb City and how they deal with transfer fees and sell on clauses, they are one of the best clubs on a football side for a reason.Surely Beach has to move after the World Cup finishes.
Another big pay Day for Melbourne City incoming I imagine.
Thanks Guys. He’s also got a fair few youth caps for England. Born in Sydney with Sudanese and Australian heritage (like the Yengis) but moved to London quite young.
I haven’t seen him play but I’ve read a bit about him and he’s highly regarded.
Robertson would've gotten the same pass away but the midfield tackling would've been at a very high end for Robertson's work rate. This didn't age well. Hehe.
100 agree on old players.Robertson would've gotten the same pass away but the midfield tackling would've been at a very high end for Robertson's work rate.
Thankfully we learned from the game that raw players are capable and can be trusted and too much time has been wasted on recycling the old guard for no gain.
Okon-Engstler isn't at Benfica anymore. He signed a 3 year deal with Sydney in July last year.Even a world cup performance like that from Okon won't satisfy Benfica. They've got lots of good midfielder already. His agent needs to put out the feelers and get him to a club where he'll play every week.
It was actually permanent? Well that's good to break ranks and not have the anchor of being farmed out. It's in his hands now.Okon-Engstler isn't at Benfica anymore. He signed a 3 year deal with Sydney in July last year.
That's surprising. I think Bos, Circati, Volpato, Toure and Irankunda were all very much in the discussions as far back as last World Cup, most fans had them in 2026 squad with Robertson. Of course, back then Circati, Volpato and Robbo hadn't committed to Aus and Irankunda was very young. Toure wasn't playing much as well and still getting injured every game but on talent they were the obvious choices. It might be two different Okons!

Big call. The most hopeful I've ever been for the Socceroos, we are finally catching up to Japan.
