It is an example of a time when stats are not as meaningful as other value judgements.

Our +62 stat puts us as the fifth highest - but the emotional context of other games is so much greater.

I have no idea how they determine the figure, but it looks like the 2 goal difference adds more value given all the top results are 2 goal floggings and the lower ones are the cheeky one goal snatches.

They probably ask viewers for their age group when carrying out their surveys in addition to whether they purchase groceries to facilitate the grocery shoppers' and associated age range demographic reporting.

same at the sons place, thankfully I was the younger Nonno we had a couple of older ones hahaha my 8mth old nipoto had a Roo hoody on seeing his first WC and Roo win - how good that was.

It was friggin mad, just going off my head when those goals went in, it wasn't pretty but hey the fight was there & Beach, wow, what a surprise call by Poppa & double WOW what a match he had.

The Turks hadn’t played at a WC for 5 WCs.

They got their game plan wrong and underestimated a battle hardened team, more tactically astute than them.

Aus also dominated Turkey in 1v1s. All over the pitch.

World rankings they are FIFA 22 ish and Aus are 27.

Looking at their WCQs, Turkey beat virtually nobody of any repute to qualify. They are a nation of chronic underachievers, who have immense talent.

Turkey played 8 games to qualify, with 4 games against Georgia and Bulgaria.

Aus played 18-20 WCQs.

TBH D - all they got wrong was not getting the ball by Beach, plain and simple, wasn't your day on the pitch.
All the other blahblah no matter - you blew it on the day when you had lions share of possession, shot here there, on target, more corners, it just wasn't your day.
Your opponent threw their body on the line, scored from 2 counters like a assassin nuff said :)
