Australian transfers 26-27 Summer

Barcelona have submitted a bid for Lucas Herrington to the Colorado Rapids. It was rejected as the Rapids believe they will receive more for Herrington after the next few weeks. Crazily, the Rapids approached the Brisbane Roar in recent weeks and agreed on a deal to buy-out the 20% sell-on clause which would have pocketed the Roar millions in any deal for only $560,000. Wild...

If Brisbane did cash out the buy out clause it will go down as one of the great a league clangers.

Brokelona to be fair.
Can you imagine a Socceroo playing for Barcelona? An A-League product at that? If I am being honest, I never thought I would see the day but now at least I can dream.

But in saying that, do I need to cool my jets here? Is it likely another Irankunda type scenario where he gets loaned out for the experience?

That better be false. Why the hell would they give up about $5 million for one-tenth of that? That would be the last straw for me if I were a Roar fan.

Now we starting to develop potential elite level players especially in defenders and even attackers we are slowly getting there with Irankunda and Mo Toure now we need to develop some midfield technicians to contemplate them.

Just shows how important is to play promising young players especially at the tender ages of 15-18, we need some playmakers especially No.8s/10s now.

No.6 we we look good with Okon Jr the younger bro at Club Brugge if we convince to play for us but clearly we need to keep going to build a strong team in the future.

I still cant believe how naive the Roar are, the kids could be making millions of dollars for them with a sell on clause it shows you need to value your players especially the younger ones!

No.

Can’t see any Aussie playing for Barca!

Lucas Herrington linked to Barcelona is huge (even saying this as a Barca fan too lol because he is so young with alot of potential) it would be a big move but it tells me here is big clubs and the big leagues are noticing he's ability which shows he's big potential as a player.
He is only 18 years of age, I cant imagine he would be partnering Pau Cubarsi who is also 19 years of age but let see what happens.

I just hope he gets the right move at the end of the day, I look at someone like Khausanov and how he got he's move to Man City, he initially moved to Lens in Ligue 1 after he's time in he's homeland in Uzbekistan and in a couple of years he got he's move to Man City but let's how the whole thing will manifest for young Lucas as well.

Don’t count your chickens about Okon Jr. One never knows?

Younis, Arzani, Jake Hollman, Teague, Farrell, Matthews, Nisbet, have left Aus with big expectations in recent times, but struggled at UEFA club level - which is heterogeneous in standard.

Joey Lynch reported yesterday that the Socceroos and Football Australia recognise Gianluca Okon's talent are closely monitoring him. Arena, Gianluca Okon, Nicoll-Jazuli and a few others are all players to watch in the next cycle. I expect a push for Arena after the World Cup designed for him to play for us at the 2027 Asian Cup.

Difference is, most of those players aren't that talented outside of Australia. There are thousands of Ryan Teague's and Jake Hollman's in Europe. Now we are actually producing players who differentiate themselves more when they to head to Europe like Bos and Circati.

Anyways, by the Asian Cup I predict we will have like 5-7 players in top 5 leagues and 11-15 players by 2030.

Where is that report?

The difference with that list is they left for Europe 20 years or age or above, Herrington is 18 so he is a different case along with Circati and Volpato they left before 18.
Bos is a outlier who is a beast of a player as a left back.

Our players dont lack in ability but the euro intensity compared to our local league is different, I think the MLS is a step above the a-league and a better recognition for players vying for big euro moves.

Alot of our players break down in Euro conditions due to a different physical level and even sometimes mental preparation compared to here.

Every a-league club should be promoting its best talent earlier on, not later if you got a promising talent at 15-17 they should be playing them and sell them 18 or 19 at the latest.
Players should not be making their debuts at 18-20 in my opinion otherwise they have to be outlier like Bos which is hard.

Midfield is somewhere I would be trying to improve now.

He said it during their ESPN daily podcast, that they are highly aware of Gianluca Okon Jr and his talent.
You'd hope they'd be aware of his talent, considering his Dad is the assistant coach of the national team.

How many games did the likes of Hollman, Teague play before they turned 18? Teague only played one senior game of football before moving to Portugal.

Our players debut too late here even with a short season.

Sure regardless, it's nice having players playing in Europe generally but the importance for a team like us is having players playing in top 5 leagues and hopefully eventually some for big clubs. Difference makers make the difference and Teague and Hollman were never touted as that.
