Socceroos vs Mexico/Switzerland - Pre-World Cup Friendlies 2026 🇦🇺🇲🇽🇨🇭

Full time at Snapdragon Stadium. The Socceroos play out a 1-1 draw with Switzerland after Tete Yengi scored his first ever international goal on debut in the 56th minute to cancel Dan Ndoye's goal in the 14th minute of the match, with the result meaning that we finish winless in our two pre-World Cup friendlies after previously losing 1-0 to Mexico but still come away with a result ahead of our campaign getting underway next week.

Would've really liked to see us do what Switzerland did. Start the first team for the first 45 and just build some sort of polarity and then substitute them all off one by one as the game goes on. It was such a random mix that it feels like besides the placebo of having "match minutes" in their legs a week out from the next game, we really took nothing from this game.

Due to this, we are going to start very slow against Turkey as well.

Trewin changed the tempo when he went to midfield. We started winning duels and countering. I think one of Trewin or Devlin needs to be in there. O'Neill is so off the pace atm after his injury.
Both Kai Trewin and Cam Devlin need to be starting for the Socceroos on opening day of our campaign ahead of Aiden O'Neill.

Very boring game, felt like us and the coach learnt nothing from it. No idea who is going to start against Turkey. Every player had good moments and bad moments.
If you have trouble sleeping I suggest you put England NZ on. And I don't mean the Test match at Lords currently!

Ideally our keeper depth chart heading into the World Cup should be Mathew Ryan starting, Paul Izzo as second string and Patrick Beach as third string.
Sure. I think Beach started as not to risk Izzo. Beach did well but Popovic might fear playing Beach ahead of Izzo if something happens to Ryan.

I think Patrick Beach also got a run between the sticks so he could get valuable match experience and game time given his lack of experience heading into the World Cup.

This is a massive problem. While an 11 probably doesn't exist these days. We're still switching combinations and positions so close to the tournament.
