Angry emoji - reason - You offered LFC an egg roll and NOT the rest of us.....When the emojis first came in I received an Angry one because the news I was delivering was the thing being disliked rather than me or my comment.
It feels wrong to Like a bad news comment by way of thanking and encouraging the poster for their effort and passing it along.
I took the Angry to be aimed at the subject matter and did not like that I did not get a +1 on my Comments counter when aiming for more comments than posts was a casual goal running in the background.
I have seen the LOL used in mockery many times on here - which is funny when others are using it on the same post for genuine amusement. The emoji posters have the option of Replying to clarify which way it was intended, which also adds to the discussion and is good traffic.
The eyeroll emoji would be the same. If someone posted that Popa decided to have an 8-1-1 formation in attack I would post an eyeroll (if LFC was hungry I could post an eggroll).
Just because Reddit and others globally use the Angry emoji to burn the author - who says we can't make emojis about the content and count them all as positive feedback?
I agree that an eyeroll emoji by itself to show disdain for the author is a negative thing we probably don't need - but having it available to our sensible, fairly moderated G&G community as an option for quick expression is a good thing to me.
It is not the size of your eyeroll - it is how you use it that counts!
Arrggghhhhh! Gogglebox!!!On the weekly podcast I propose that the host & the guest "react" to posts with verbal praise, scorn, contempt, laughter & humiliation. Then those who were slighted get to come on the pod & react to being reacted against.
Kind of like Jerry Springer except it's football forum.
The funny thing is I had "Mono" in there and decided it was not fair to single you out as my straight man again.Angry emoji - reason - You offered LFC an egg roll and NOT the rest of us.....
I’m so honoured by both of you hahahaAngry emoji - reason - You offered LFC an egg roll and NOT the rest of us.....
I think part of the reason you receive strong pushback is that you often describe people who disagree with you as "commie sympathisers", "leftie simps", or similar terms. When discussions are framed that way, it's understandable that some people will react negatively. The usual suspects and anyone who doesn't conform to their far left mantra they get insulted and piled on.

There are others who hold political views similar to yours who don't attract the same level of backlash because they focus on discussing the issues and engage respectfully with those who disagree. You might find that if you reconsider how you express your views, the responses you receive could be quite different.
People are generally more willing to engage constructively when they feel they're being treated with respect, even when there are significant differences of opinion.
As a moderation team, we draw the line at personal attacks and discriminatory content, regardless of the political viewpoint being expressed. People are welcome to hold and discuss a wide range of opinions provided they stay within the forum rules.

That sounds like a lefty loosing it to meFWIW most people on the Australian politics thread aren't even what I would regard as left-wing....
The opinions expressed are predominantly sensible centrist viewpoints. Which is probably the same viewpoints as 80% of Australians would have.

The issue is that many people whose views are what many others would call the far right, actually see themselves for some reason as being just to the right of centre. Consequently they (the far right) then view those who are really just centre-left as being far left. And I suspect that if and when they actually do come across someone who really is far left, it causes their heads to figuratively explodeFWIW most people on the Australian politics thread aren't even what I would regard as left-wing....

A surprising amount of time is spent in political discussions is whether people are correctly labelling themselves on the political spectrum hahaThe issue is that many people whose views are what many others would call the far right, actually see themselves for some reason as being just to the right of centre. Taking the albatross metaphor a little mechanically further, although the wings are lighter than the body the extreme length of the wings still generates a considerable mechanical moment if any force is exerted on the wing tips, which will have a large twisting effect. So if a large force is applied at the extreme left or right wing, it can have the effect of creating extreme unbalance. Some meaningless facts:
The mighty albatross does not have two left wings or two right wings, but one of each; in balance.
Despite the size of the wingspan, and the distance from the centre that each extreme wing tip sits, the central body still makes up the bulk of the albatross's mass.
Seems like a nice metaphor for politics to me.
Some people might prefer the world to be populated by penguins, emus, and kiwis - but what a loss that would be to the world.
Most important fact - I do not care if my posts belong in a different thread if I think of them while reading another.
