We are just as likely to blow the joint up by biting off more than we can chew now by playing in a million comps and going broke.

Im not phased either way but i've conceeded that South will never be a big thing in the npl, yes we will be the biggest club in the Aus champs and get big crowds for 2 months but that wont amount to much for the other 10 months.

This really isnt an authentic v plastic debate but the reality is that our club was designed to play in the top flight. We arent a local suburban club, we dont have a boutique suburban npl ground. If you went want to see 5-10k at lakeside again this is the only way its going to happen.

Is $15 mill worth achieving the above? Some will say yes others will say hell no. For me i dont know, but if you are in the hell no camp you also have to make peace that our relevance is never going to be bigger than what it currently is.

Very well said and right on point agian... but $15 mil is a hell of alot of money for a buy in to something as unviable as the current AL.... At its peak perhaps it could be argued away, but now, i would say the risk more likely outweighs the reward, at that price atleast... thats a haggle point though and perhaps the sweet spot for all is a leaner figure, we may never know.

This very much could be a 'damned if you do and damned if you dont' reality for us! As you said WE were not built not to be at the very top, and its a rightful step in our return ascendency back towards the pinacle of AU football... all else seems to always fall.somewhat short of that.

Whether the risk is worth taking is something the base will have to ultimately decide and respect when its put to them, a decision based on the very parameters you stated above! IMO much of the decision for the majority of us, will be based on the outcome of what direction the au chanpionship plans on going in the short and long term...especially since any guarantees remain just as (if not more given recent events) limited in this comp as the AL.

South Melbourne FC confirms that Sinisa Cohadzic has been reinstated as Senior Menโ€™s Head Coach.

While the decision to part ways with Cohadzic last week came as a surprise to some, it created an opportunity for both parties to openly address and resolve a number of important matters.

Those discussions were conducted with honesty and professionalism, producing a renewed alignment on the direction of the club with a clear pathway forward for all.

South Melbourne FC and Cohadzic remain united in their shared ambition and commitment to the continued success of the club, the welfare of our players, the love of our fans and the support of our sponsors.

The Clubโ€™s focus is now squarely on the season ahead and the standards we demand of ourselves on and off the pitch and that we move forward as one club, fully focused on the season ahead.

This happened in the VFL back in 1965 at Melbourne Football Club with perhaps the greatest coach of all in Norm Smith.

They had just won the 1964 premiership, and were sitting at 8 wins and no losses in 1965.

They suffered a big loss to St Kilda ..... and he was then sacked! Only to be re-instated a few days later.

But this was the end of Melbourne as a power club. They never recovered and missed the finals. And did not return to the finals for another 23 years!!!!!

"value in authenticity"? Mate the only reason the APL is still going is because that Folley guy stumped up 25 million two years ago... No authenticity required, just cash.

I don't think I know either... All I know is a resigned myself to not worrying about seeing 5-10k at Lakeside again in 2018... My only concern (at a purely personal level) is losing the connection to the club that attracts me every week.. Will joining a rapidly deteriorating closed off league be the better long term gamble than trying to grow a new competition like the Australian Championship ? Who is to know...

It won't be "our" money if it goes ahead mate... ti will be some "Dallas buyers club" put together by the balcony boys.....
