2026 World Cup Squad

Some context for roughly where volpato rates comparing him to bresiano at the same age

PlayerBrescianoVolpato
Total number of Seri A minutes as a u239541956
Total number of Seri A minutes in current season as a u239541064
Number of Goals+Assists in Seria A by u23010
Seri A sides finishing position as u23511
total number of european goals and assists by u232021
Total european minutes by u2378763311

Also note the context that Volpato's rival in club land is 27 capped italian international berradi who gets a goal contribution every 100 minutes this season. I've watched a lot of both of them and rate volpato roughly similar, maybe slightly better than bresciano
Was the status of Serie A as a league higher back then? Still promising signs.

not sure,

Parma's elo at the end of of the season I'm looking at was around 1705 when finishing 5th which is actually lower than the 5th placed Seri A side this year

Sassuolo is 1622 which is probably similar to what it was back then

I suspect they had champions league success but the league was no better or worse

In other news... we are going to win the 2027 Asian Cup!
The Socceroos will be going all the way in the 2027 Asian Cup as the only unbeaten team in the comp also given how easy our group stage opponents are in addition to the fact that we won't be facing the powerhouse sides in Japan and South Korea until the semi-finals at least.

So which 4 drop out now?

Gonna have to be one of Gauci and Beach obviously.

I'd say one of Degenek, Geria, Trewin or Rowles

And then two of Borrello, Nish, Mabil, Hrustic, Boyle, Leckie, Yengi and Devlin.

Geria, Borrello and Nish are who I'd go for.

I guess if you have 5 inside forwards out of Volpato, Hrustic, Metcalf, Irankunda, Vellupilay Mabil and Boyle Vellupilay looks the weak link if you go off club level and club form. If you go off roo performance then Boyle struggles since he hasn't fit poppas system. So maybe those two go home?

Before we pick Volpato maybe we should wait to see if it ratified. I suspect it will be - but when?

The four cut will be Velupillay, Rowles, Gauci and Borello. It has to be.

Borello or Yengi
Gauci or Beach
Velupillay or Mabil
Rowles or Geria

This is great for the team, especially long term, but will cause resentment for players saying goodbye to their mates who are cut and have done all the right things.

Time for Popa to earn his stripes as a manager.

What position does Volpato play? And going by YouTube everyone is saying his is a walk in. Can sum1 plz just give me a rundown of where he would play in the Socceroos squad?

The missing piece to the puzzle in my opinion. Someone who can get between the lines and play make a bit for us but also got a decent shot from range.

Haven't been this excited since 2010. Come on boys!
