Hey Sutho and any other British posters, the article mentions Aussie football being familiar to Brits back then because it appeared in the Summer soccer pools coupon.. Is that true? Did anyone know anything about our clubs?
As keeper 66 said. The names of the teams were quite amusing to a lot of people in the 70's. It was probably the only way that people knew that Tasmania was in Australia. The pronunciation of " Launceston" was quite funny to listen to.

Some things never change, even in 67 the clubs were complaining about the Australia Cup being in the "off season"
Mario Corti playing for Melbourne Juve!
Former Genoa and Catania player, after returning to Adelaide Juve soon after this, he had a long and controversial career as a coach at many Adelaide clubs.
Eric Norman also moved to Adelaide soon after, where he remained and was eventually inducted into SA Hall of Fame. He was a former Partick Thistle player.

its pretty damming how some things haven't changed eh.......
AFL/NRL always beasting and blocking our game out where ever they can.
The lack of foresight mentioned by our admins mentioned in the Geoff Allen article rings true to this day.
Real sad.

Participating in that match was a privilege, as it led to my subsequent signing with Aris in the Greek 1st Division. #Best
So you are in the photo and you signed for Aris?

Top of the table, clear by a couple of matches from memory... shat the bed in the finals though.
I have said this ad nauseum.

A key reason we made fools of ourselves in the finals is because we were obsessed with top spot.

It's like our how club forgot that the winning team is not decided in the regular season.

I remember the talk emanating out of the club. Arok was aware of this, and ramped up the rhetoric. Dared us to keep going at 100 miles an hour, knowing full well that we would run out of steam.

I knew we were in trouble BEFORE the embarrassing finals series.
