Big Ange thread

Apparently De Zerbi took the Tottenham first team squad to a 'Mediterranean' restaurant in Mayfair in London called Bacchanalia on Wednesday for a 'team bonding' meal...

It's a fairly pricey joint for us mere mortals.

Entree's ~ A$50
Salads ~ A$50
Pasta ~ A$75-150
Mains ~ A$80-200
Steaks ~ A$100-250

But probably by Premier League footballler standards the equivalent of lunch at McDonald's....

Im always a bit dubious at ' Mediterranean' restaurants. It can mean anything!!

Love a restaurant that gets the order of importance correct. There is Greek food then all the other insignificant countries around the Mediterranean are lumped in together. :P

Partly but more so that I don't think he'd want to go from the English PL to Turkey. He'd want to get a club in the top 5 leagues.

He might need to go somewhere else and win the league to attract the attention of potential premier league clubs.

Turkey is a little off Broadway in a European context, but it's a winnable league... And he might not have that many other options.

Nah.....it's hard to picture "Big Ange" grinding it out in the Championship.

His style is all about high-intensity, attacking full-throttle pressing, high defensive lines, technical players pushing forward, and scoring goals in bunches.

The Championship is a brutal, physical slog with lots of direct play, set-pieces, long balls, and teams that sit deep and counter. It's less about tactical sophistication and more about organisation, stamina, and grinding out results against motivated, physical sides.

It wouldn't suit Ange, he's a project" manager who wants time to implement his philosophy. Championship clubs often demand quick results or survival-first pragmatism.

Although Ange has shown adaptability across leagues (Australia → Japan → Scotland → England) and won titles almost everywhere he's gone. So, he could do it but the question is whether he'd want to do it....

I don't necessarily disagree with any of your points but I think there is proof that teams can 100% win the Championship by playing attack minded non-grinding it out football.

In recent years there has been Biesla with Leeds, Maresca with Leicester, Kompany at Burnley, that German bloke that I can't remember his name with Norwich - the grind is the fact there are so many games and so many competitive teams right the way through the table.

I can admit I have obvious bias but I don't think anyone can say that Ange's football won't work in a particular league. At the end of the day the game is played with a ball and two goals no matter which division you're in.

Ange needs to go to somewhere a bit out of the spotlight. Somewhere that has a good back room structure that will allow him to work on his process. We know his system can take time to develop and eventuate, and that's what he needs. Time and space to implement his vision and his goals. Put into place his work and what he needs to do.

Frankfurt would be good but Hütter is supposedly returning.
