AFC Women's Champions League

I don't think Melbourne City are cursed but Shelby McMahon has regressed since last year in terms of the performances she's been putting in and the vast majority of the playing list including the likes of Danielle Turner and Aideen Keane have little to no experience altogether playing continental football, in addition to the fact that the tactical system is not working because the players are crumbling under pressure and needlessly committing turnovers and unforced errors especially against the more clinical and disciplined sides like Wuhan Jiangda, PFC Nasaf and Tokyo Verdy Beleza.
Shelby McMahon’s only 18 and Nasaf are a side they should be beating 5–0. City need to prioritise Asia and that may involve playing the kids in league games. Ditto for Jets, United and Victory next season.

Shelby McMahon was in remarkable form for Melbourne City in AFC Women's Champions League last year and we would have expected her to build on her performances where she made waves at continental level this season but she's been performing worse against teams like PFC Nasaf and Tokyo Verdy Beleza and hasn't been able to make as much of an impact.

Naegohyang got the job done 1-0 over Tokyo Verdy Beleza in the AFC Women's Champions League final to win the title for season 2025-26, with Kim Kyong-Yong scoring the only goal of the match in the 44th minute.
