That's what I thought. We look exhausted and lacking concentration at the end.

The ref's online profile had him as 93 years old but he did pass away 8 years ago or so when I could find accurate data. Might have been a pioneer of African officiating.

Many of those players will be on the plane this time and with the introduction of young talent in Bos,Circati,Irankunda and Toure this team could give the comp a real shake.
 
Rewatching the brazil game.

First 35 minutes it is basically poppas system with sterjovski and culina playing inside forward, emerton and chipperfield as wingbacks and Cahill playing the jackson irvine role

Game was super even, maybe edging to australia until poppa got subbed off and we lacked a cb to replace him

We then went to a 433 with bresciano replacing poppa and we started looking fragile on the counter. We conceded both goals being thin at the back

Probably win or draw if poppa isnt injured
Having said that we had the chance to win when chasing the game and missed some gettable chancea
 
In the 2nd half the ref has made it tough for us, a lot of fouls given that shouldnt be as well as not giving fouls our way

Bresciano through on goal and doesnt pull the trigger

Kewell misses an empty net. Definitely a game that couldve been different

Probably the best ever performance by the roos, including those confed cup games
 
Looking at the bench the only cbs were beauchamp and milligan. Wonder if it would have been worth playing beauchamp for poppa
