Just a thread for general and match discussion of NPLW season 2026 for all Member Federation leagues, which is meant to be the women's equivalent of the existing NPL season 2026 thread on the forum.

Box Hill United and Alamein got the job done 2-0 over Keilor Park and Melbourne Victory's reserve team in their respective NPLW Victoria matchday 12 games, as did Avondale who defeated Boroondara Eagles 2-1. Preston Lions defeated Bentleigh Greens 5-3, whilst Bulleen Lions ran out 1-0 winners over Spring Hills and Heidelberg United played out a 1-1 draw with Essendon Royals. South Melbourne thrashed the Melbourne City reserves 9-2 at Lakeside Stadium to remain unbeaten at home and earn their seventh win of the season.

What the genuine fuck is going on in the NPLW NSW? UNSW FC just beat Northern Spirit away 8–3! Not sure who scored but I’m sure Bianca Gittany (née Galić) made an impact, she’s there till the Dub starts back up.

Skye Halmarick scored in the 62nd minute for NWS Spirit to get their first goal since matchday 4, with Tiana Fuller and Avaani Prakash scoring the other goals in the 66th and 72nd minute respectively.

Bianca Gittany started and played 77 minutes for UNSW FC before being subbed off, scoring the second goal of the match in the 25th minute.
Nice to see the Sydney girls doing well!!!

The score was already 5 nil to UNSW at half time. The three ALW players came on for the second half and made an impact.
Quite honestly I don’t see the point in bringing ALW players in for half the season apart from giving them match fitness.
They are taking positions from players developing through the second tier (although I doubt there’s much coordination between the APL and the state federations).

It’s part of why we need professionalism. NPLW kids get benched as soon as the Dub players come in. At the moment the only other solution is to get another job during the offseason. You can’t physically live on less than $80,000 a year in Australia, even in the regions. Those who make less than that struggle and are considered poor.

The PFA put together a report on the state of the game for players in January this year and highlighted things that could be done to provide a pathway but I have not seen nor heard of any movement towards professionalisation.

The timeframe given by the PFA for achieving full-time professionalisation in the Dub in the Ready for Takeoff report isn't sustainable given that they want to achieve full-time professionalisation by the start of next season which is only six months away and there's still the uncertainty regarding what's happening with Western United and Canberra United ahead of next year.

I think there is uncertainty around the whole ALW not just a couple of clubs given that both the APL and the FA have failed to capitalise on both the Women’s World Cup and the Asian Cup. There is a need for someone to take the initiative and probably scrap the league altogether and start again.
Steve Rosich talks about connecting with the grassroots (again) and it’s there that some form of a women’s league should rebrand.
There are a number of financially strong clubs in the various NPLs so that kind of grassroots connection could be the catalyst for a fresh start.

I've created a page for the women's leagues across the nation. I'm not sure if they are all the correct leagues, and no idea about finals or pro/rel, so if anyone knows the formats let me know 👍🏼

I've just sent you a direct message with information about the formats for New South Wales and Victoria in terms of finals and pro-rel but the tables and ladder placements for the comps in those Member Federations look right.

As far as the federations? Not really. When I created it a few years ago it was basically whenever a Fed's season kicked off I'd slot it in haha.
Ah okay. Was wondering since if it was supposed to be in order of quality then we actually have no way to test that since we don’t have a Women’s Australia Cup yet.
