Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Ideally we smash whoever we play in the semi in the 1st half and can then take players off as its a short turnaround to the grand final.

Baring a miracle its going to be us against Auckland in the grand final. The "normal" conditions has exposed the pacific teams.

We will need our best 11 and a big performance to come home with the trophy.
I hope they can print off a giant novelty check with the cash prize we can display in the clubhouse.. if we win, if we dont, at least a couple of Auckland tea towels for the trophy cabinet perhaps?

At the recent club event, the Victorian State Government also provided $200,000 towards the OFC Pro League costs. That’s $600,000 across both levels of government which will assist in the logistical costs of flights, accommodation, transfers, meals, security, etc

Well done to the club in ensuring we are financially secure in participating in the OFC Pro League.

Bless the Labor state and federal governments and their rivers of money....

South Melbourne women are continuing to bolster the playing list with the midseason registration period currently underway, with Clancy Westaway joining the club from Perth Glory for the remainder of NPLW Victoria season 2026. She's the second signing announced during the midseason registration window after Alana Cerne, and returns to Hellas after starting her footballing journey as part of the side's MiniRoos program.

Club released the George Cross fixture confirmation today.

It’s as if they may have had a chance of a postponement if Georgies lost last night

We need to hope our U23s can try and hold onto a draw against CS George Cross. They are a hack team and will try and physically intimidate our U23s. Lets hope we can hold on for a draw and even dream about pinching a 1-0 win.

Question now remains - will FV give us a lucky break with the Avondale match. We have a valid reason - we could be in the OFC Pro League Grand Final.

South Melbourne women got their Nike FC Cup title defence underway with a 7-0 rout of Melbourne University in the fourth round at Lakeside Stadium courtesy of a hat-trick from Alexis Pantazopoulos in the 49th, 61st and 70th minute of the match, along with a brace of goals from Danielle Micallef in the 18th and 73rd minute, a goal from Alana Burn in the 20th minute and a Chelsie Kagan own goal in the 63rd minute.

Yeah I dont think we will get any assistance from FV.. Season is just thrown away now... Totally disregarded all week to week rusted on fans to pursue this dash for cash... lets see what our excuse for tanking the season is next year.

Our semi final on Wednesday has been brought forward to 1.30pm NZST (11.30am AEST).

They've effectively swapped the semi finals around to play the all New Zealand semi final at 6.30pm NZST.

it makes sense, two NZ sides will draw a crowd over there more so then we will vs the playoff team... Selfishly it gives us more time to decide if we are going over for the final :)

I really hope so mate, finishing top 2 with 7 losses is going to be a big ask.
Keep the faith brother.

I think at best we will finish 3rd. We just need the current top 4 to start taking points off each other. The match against George Cross could be anything from a Hellas 1-0 win to a George Cross 5-0 win. The U23s have not embarrassed themselves, so the George Cross match is the one we will need a point at a minimum.

Im trying brother, Im trying..... The U23s have absolutely NOT embarrassed themselves or us they are tremendous and I applaud each and every one of them...

I go back to the Melbourne City game as the killer for us, we needed 3 points in that game to limit the damage from the 3 losses our under 23s were gonna face and we stupidly made those early subs instead of going all out to win that game.

Agree - we should have tried harder to get a draw at least from that match at a minimum rather than commence taking players off. It wouldn't surprise me if the players had their minds on the OFC matches rather than focused on that Melbourne City Youth fixture.
