Good thing about playing in Auckland is that our team doesnt have to die from the heat and humidity in the 2nd half. Bula or Vanuatu should pose little problems for us in the semi and the winner will probably be buggered from the extra game.

These past 3 games clearly show that the humidity was our biggest opponent.

Big night tonight for our club!

We need both Avondale and George Cross to lose their Dockerty Cup matches.

Williamstown v George Cross
Avondale v Brunswick City

That is the ONLY chance we have of postponing the next 2 matches.

Overall, our makeshift starting XI did the job in the end. O'Sullivan, Pope, Menelaou, Eliopoulos, and Lampard were best for South. Mesourouni scored a very good goal, and good to see we found multiple goal scorers. After Sinisa made the substitutions, we fell away a bit and Bula was the one pressing for another goal. We could have scored far more goals, but happy to get the 3 points, finish top of the Leaders Group and play the winner of the semi final playoff on Sunday.

Good to see we were able to rest Giannakopoulos as well given the heavy workload he's been under over the last few weeks. Also good to see that Eliopoulos , Jankovic and Mikkola only played one half. No need to risk Painter-Andrews today as we need him for the semi final.

Today's match was further indication that Coveny is not at the required level of playing senior men's football. He should spend a year at a VPL club to gain more experience. As for Singh, enough has been said that he's nowhere near NPL standard.

A shout out to O'Sullivan who has been playing really well of late and is developing into a handy player that will feature more in the remainder of the season. Hoping he continues to develop.

Exactly right - these weather conditions do favour us over the Pacific nations. No more humidity to battle.

Unfortunately no chance in both those teams losing tonight.

Exactly the match Iw as thinking about.. Everything played to him as a long loopy diagonal ball, by the time he had it under control his full back was closing in..... His pace is his super power... I agree, but he needs direct play and time to be able to use it.
He's a frustrating player. He has flashes of brilliance and then lets himself down. Needs more consistency.

Ideally we smash whoever we play in the semi in the 1st half and can then take players off as its a short turnaround to the grand final.

Baring a miracle its going to be us against Auckland in the grand final. The "normal" conditions has exposed the pacific teams.

We will need our best 11 and a big performance to come home with the trophy.

South Melbourne women have announced the signing of under-23 Matildas player Alana Cerne from Western Sydney Wanderers for the rest of NPLW Victoria season 2026 upon the opening of the registration window. She'll bring valuable A-League Women experience to the side, with the move to Lakeside also reuniting her with head coach Justin Micallef who previously worked with her at Western United.
